Hi everyone, I'm just a newbie to the domain game who's been inspired by someone who makes a living on a collection of traffic rich domains - I'm looking for a little advice on how to pick profitable domains.

How much traffic does it take for a type in domain to bring in $6-7 per day?
(i realise this depends on the traffic subject but please give me an example of one which has a high ppc and a low ppc)

how does this translate into overture results when using this as a tool to evualte your domains (i.e. would a overture report of 100 translate into 500 visitors per month?)

A law or insurance based domain can make $6-7 per day with 5-10 visitors daily. A game or entertainment domain might take 200-400 visitors per day to make the same amount.

There are many different variables that you need to consider to determine what type of return you get with a domain. The 2 main factors are:

1. Traffic
2. Keyword value

To give you an example, I have a generic real estate typo that gets roughly 12-15 uniques visitors a day which translates to about $4-5 daily. You might have to test different parking services to determine which ppc company pays best depending on the keyword. Here's a good resource - http://parkingincome.com/show.php

Now Overture can be a good guide to estimate natural type-in traffic, but be careful because I find that the ratio of overture+tld score to true unique visitors can vary greatly.

Keep learning and good luck!

If you can get some high grade domain names and can get accepted to Fabulous's Pay Per Click program, you will make much more per click than any other. I've tried them all at this point... Started with TrafficClub, did Goldkey, worked with Parked, made and effort with Sedo, etc... FINALLY got accepted to Fabulous and the same clicks I was making .40 cents on at Sedo, I'm making a $1.80 on at Fabulous. While my highest click at any of the other sites (Moniker's TrafficClub if memory serves) was under $3, my best click so far at Fabulous has been almost $10.

WORLDS apart, but it takes a sold domain portfolio to get accepted. I gotta say, I love it. It was worth the wait and work to build a proper portfolio.

The real trick is how to drive the traffic. I'm no expert by any means... In fact, I'm a realtive newbie still. I'm just lucky enough where much of my traffic seems to be "natural" either type-in or via search engine in some way. I've still not figured out how all that works, there are many people far better skilled at that than I.

I have found, read, heard that people that specialize in PPC Revenues can buy up a domain that gets 100 uniques and $2 per day and turn it into 10,000 uniques and over $100 bucks a day. I don't know how, I'd love to learn... but they do.

I'm selling a portfolio full of keyword domains (some with over 30,000 searches per month) and through that offering spoke with a UK based PPC Domaineer that has several hundred thousand (yes, 400,000) domains off of which he earns high $xx,xxx per month in revenues.

It CAN be done... it's an amazing world. But don't think it happens overnight or even to everyone.

Best of luck!

out of interest can i ask what result overture gives you for that real estate domain (inc tld)?

I'm not sure whether to restrict myself to domains which overture shows up a few results for just to go with my gut - so far I've only been able to find a handful of available domains with some overture+ltd results and even then the highest was 15 per month :td: .

is the general feeling about overture+ltd as a domain finder the same as you might regard alexa as a measure of traffic for websites (i.e. much to be desired)?

feel free to pm me some with traffic/rev - My income comes from being an online affiliate and the domains side is something i'm hoping to build up an alternative passive income stream (although aquiring the domains is anything but passive LOL).
