Is this one worth anything? I can only think of maybe 3 ipod domains that would be better than this one. Probably ipod.com, eipod.com and iipod.com. Other than those, I think 1ipod.com has the others beat.

Anyway, what's this thing worth?

Good luck with the name anyway, I hope Apple buy it from you

Thanks Gile, they probably wouldn't want it. I'm thinking people that sell Ipods i.e. dealers, vendors, retail shops, repair shops, etc... I'm 47 and barely know what an Ipod is, lol. I skipped that generation.

Honestly though, Ipod.org doesn't have 1 bid on Sedo. He can't give it away. Like I said, that name ipod.org is a 100% violation in the worst way. "Ipod" is clearly a TM on apple's list. 1ipod is nowhere near it.

Appreciate the insight on this thread though and meeting everyone.

Look at this story. The guy who owns Ipods.net could be in trouble, but I doubt Apple would care. Also notice how they mention using UDRP in the future. That is the Icann dispute process that was used on me in the past. Icann can strip you of a name in about 2 seconds. Icann is the supreme court when it comes to domains.

Apple Wins Dispute Over iPods.com Domain

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ordered on Wednesday that the iPods.com domain name be transferred to Apple from parking site holder MP3Gold.com.

Apple filed an official complaint with WIPO at the end of May, on grounds of trademark infringement. The complaint sparked interest in the public eye as to why the iPod manufacturer chose to wait nine years after the launch of the media player to go after the domain name.

This complaint comes after a number of other domain name conflicts for Apple, which tends to pay large sums of money to overtake desirable domains, a strategy that has cost the company millions in the past. Earlier this year, Apple reportedly shelled out $4.5 million to acquire the iCloud domain. And in 2007, it purchased iPhone.com from businessman and domain profiteer Michael Kovatch for at least $1 million, according to a number of reports.

Having landed such a quick victory in this case, Apple may choose to take advantage of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) more often, instead of forking over loads of cash to domain squatters. After all, there are a number of domain names that the company still does not own, including iPad.com, iPads.com, iPhones.com and Macs.com, among others.

My question is, how on earth was 1ipod even available? It didn't expire or drop or someone would have grabbed it a long time ago. If it wasn't dropped, then either someone deleted it from their account, or Apple (or employee) kicked it lose. Someone one had to have owned that name and deleted it as I can find absolutely no record of it. It's like the name appeared out of thin air. People own 2ipod.com, 3ipod.com, etc.... not sure where this one even came from. I still think it's the best Ipod "legal" name around.

We all know your'e winding us up now....give it a rest, just putting a number in front of a trademark doesnt do anything, just have a look all the similar names being taken away from domainers and explain that

Forget about ipods.com, we all know its a TM, we ar discussing your TM name here

if there as an Ipod version called the "1ipod", ya it would be in trouble because apple would want to use the name. This name is for end users and retailers, hence the number in front of the name, instead of after it. Apple would have no desire to try for 1ipod. Not in the least. I don't even think they care about ipods.net that's for sale. Now, if it was Ipod5.com, and they came out with something called Ipod5, then they might want it. But 1ipod, not a chance. Free and clear.

I could also ask them if it's okay for me to go #2 while I'm at it. I don't ask permission about anything from anyone on the planet. Although maybe I will to have fun with it.

I'm now starting to wonder if I should resell it or develop it. Would probably be a powerhouse on the search engines. I would start the first ever Ipod forum if it wasn't such a boring topic.

The only reason it was even available is because someone recently deleted it from their account. Good folks like you may have scared them with bad info. Or perhaps someone with Apple / Ipod kicked it lose as it could create some sort of a conflict and they were worried about it. Maybe when they started going after a couple domains an employee panicked? Or maybe they wanted available to the public. Who knows One thing is for certain though, the name didn't drop and it was deleted. If it just dropped, I would be able to find that info. No way that name has been just sitting there for years. Perhaps only days or weeks.

Not recently; your domain was regged from 2004 - 2010, and then they let it expire, November 1 of 2010.
It was not prematurely deleted in the middle of its registration time, it was allowed to naturally expire at the exact end of those six years.

It hasn't been regged for 5 years (4 years, 10 and a half months, if we're being technical), until you regged it yesterday.

Hello, Pandemic; I keep wanting to write 'welcome to the forum', because each thing you say sounds like it's coming from someone who just joined the forum and just started domaining. It's amazing, looking back over the years, how many newbies join up, ask for an appraisal of a very-obviously trademarked domain, and then argue, deny, debate, lash out, and just generally blow off everything that every member here says in response to them. Funny. Actually, a little upsetting and tragic, but funny too. But, I see you've been a member for years.

I don't want to write a whole book here - I have to take a pee and walk the dog, so I have my priorities - But a few point-form things:

Edit: never mind. You'll just argue with me too, and roadblock everything I say. Even if I attach screenshots, videos, court documents, etc etc etc., you'll still insist that you know and I don't, or that I'm just fearmongering. Ha, again.

Really, I just started to post to let you know when your domain was regged before.
Have fun :)

Hi Bannen, thank you for the kind reply. It's not that I don't believe the good folks here, but I just think we have a lot of gray area. My issues tend to arise from claims of people stating, "you will face thousands in legal fees, prosecution, jail, delete the name now and hide," etc .... I think we all know that isn't true, lol. Perhaps if those outlandish claims weren't used, then I would consider other advice. It's hard for me to take advice when people start yelling prosecution and things that are not true, and then it taints the entire image of what I should believe.

Quite honestly, if it make everyone feels better, if Apple wanted to come after me for TM issues, they could and would probably prevail. They could also do it to the 200 Ipod domains currently up for sale on Sedo i.e. Idpods.net and Ipod.org. The bottom line is, is that they wont come after me, nor them. They could, but never would. They only do it if the name is an exact match on their company or a new product they want to sell, which is fair. And that's what people are missing. People purchase Iphone domains, MSFT domains, etc.... and although they border TM infringements, unless it's the .com for the exact match, they leave it alone. I'm yet to hear of them getting in trouble for having a "similar" domain. Further, companies like MSFT and Apple probably don't mind it as people are simply marketing their product! It's good for business you might say, which is why they don't pursue them, UNLESS it's a domain they specifically NEED. I don't foresee Apple ever having the desire to acquire nor promote the name 1ipod at this time, nor in the near future.

So again, if it is a borderline TM infringement, and I agree it is, will they come after me? Hell no! Will they go after the 200 names on Sedo? Of course not. If they chase down every domain name with Ipod in it, that would be insane. So the bottom line is, TM violation or not, Apple has better things to do, and not a chance of them wanting my worthless domain or the others. Wouldn't you agree? So I'm not worried whatsoever ever about an Icann dispute being filed. Now, when people start saying, "10k in legals fees.... prosecution .... going to jail," etc.... and you know it's BS, what would you think and how would you respond? Maybe newbies aren't fighting the the TM issues people are talking abut, but fighting the people making the issues and crazy intimidation tactics. A good way to respond to a newbie with a possible TM issue, would be to say, "It could be a TM violation, but chances are, they won't dispute it with Icann and take the name from you, but always keep that in mind that they could". And leave it at that and give the damn appraisal, lol. I can see this group chasing newbies away pretty fast, but I'm not like the others.

Anyway, I'm a good domain name grabber, but terrible with appraisals, which is why I asked for assistance.

Perhaps I can rephrase my appraisal question another way. If Apple specifically said I'm okay to sell the name, and we're good to go, what would be the price i should ask?

Thanks!

In all honesty everything shared here by those who commented here myself included was only to benefit you and guide you to a better path. It's commonly known that TM Domains are frowned upon here. It wasn't personal nor were we trying to discourage you from domaining just for you to invest more wisely which anyone here would be more than happy to assist you with.
There are many great names still available to hand reg on daily basis. If there's a specific nitch that your interested in post in "Domains wanted" section with budget here on NP. Or if you want big boy Domains PM me. LOL
Either way good luck!

lol.... appreciate it my friend. Just getting back into this after years and playing catch up. Starting to get it figured it now. 10/4 on how the TM's come across here. Don't blame you and can't wait to see one posted by a newbie so I can lay into them. :D

Hi, Tom, thanks for the reply. I'm an old timer.

I don't think Apple will come after me on the name as it's rather worthless. Do you think they will come after me for it and the 200 ipod names currently being sold on Sedo? Would be a bloodbath like never seen before in domaining history. Never heard of something like that before.

You say delete it. Are you saying that they're coming after me for this little gem?
