150,000 Visits per Month, 75,000 Uniques. Now What?

I have a website I set up last year that requires no maintenance (haven't touched it since I built it) and now it's getting just under 150,000 visitors per month and just under 75,000 unique visitors per month.

I'm making pretty good money from the Adsense, but I'm thinking of selling the website if I can get a decent offer. I'm really new to this kind of thing, it's the first website I've ever owned.

Here are my questions:

1. Is 150,000 visitors/75,000 uniques per month considered good?
2. Would I be able to get a good amount of $$$ based off the number of visitors alone or does the domain name itself matter more than the traffic?

When you have 75k uniques per month, you'd have to have a hell of a good domain for it to be worth more than the traffic.

it sounds like your doing great with that site!

I think visitors alone does not count. What counts is what you are earning with the site.
Show some more details and we can give you a better evaluation.

The source of traffic makes a MAJOR difference in the value. Is it USA? Is it foreign? Are they paid visits? It is organic traffic?

Many would like to know if it is "Business and Commercial Traffic" versus "Social Traffic" as well now a days. Huge difference in those as well ...

Thanks for the info so far guys. Here's some more info about my site. I actually have 2 sites that are very similar to each other so here's the stats for both:

For the month of March:
Site #1: (150,000 visits; 75,000 uniques) = Earnings of $1000 in ad clicks
Site #2: (25,000 visits; 7,000 uniques) = Earnings of $250 in ad clicks

Most of my traffic for both comes from the U.S. but they have big followings in the U.K., Australia, and Canada in that order.

It is all Social Traffic, the revenue is all from ad clicks, the users don't pay for anything.

Thanks for your help guys.

You have traffic like that on those sites and you are only earning $1250 per month? You should be earning at least double that or more.

Like I said, it's my first revenue generating website so I'm probably not really capitalizing on the traffic. It's all dependant on ad clicks, some people click, some people don't.

Obviously I'd love to get more people clicking the ads, but I really don't know what more I can do. Also, keep in mind this is a site that took me 1 hour to make and I haven't updated since that first build last year.

I don't want to share the actual site, but it's along the same lines as www.googoth.com. It is literally just a page with an adsense search bar that retrieves google results.

Not necessarily True - Not all Traffic is created Equal ;) As I said above ... Social vs. Business Traffic - Different keywords or type sites. Obviously a site based on Law/Legal content would pay more than a site Based on Bumper Stickers. Far too many unknowns to say such a thing.

So, I guess my next question is: If my earnings are low compared to the amount of traffic that's coming in, do you think there might be a buyer out there that would want to buy it in hopes of "fixing it up" to earn more? I mean it does come with a pretty big built in audience, is that (plus the fact they'd be guaranteed at least $1000/month) worth anything to buyers?

People would DEFINATELY want to buy that site. If I were you, I wouldnt sell it, I would possibly hire somebody with that money and get some good graphics done. That will reel in big cash, and much more traffic. Dont sell it, your site has a HUGE potential if you get some good graphics and develop it more. You mind sharing the site with us so I can give you some more in-depth info?'

Hope i helped :)

You haven't yet said if the traffic is paid for or not, which is a major issue, or if it is say, typo traffic etc.

If you want you can pm me the link and I will give you a private opinion via pm.

Thanks gingerman, I just PMed you. As for the traffic, I haven't spent a cent on advertising and none of it comes from typos. Basically I just created a site so bizarre that people blogged it, made youtube videos about it etc. so 100% of my advertising is done by my site's users.

It started out as an experiment to see how far my site could spread if I put a single post in a similarly themed message board last year. That's the only advertising I've ever personally done for it. Sorry to be so vague about what the site is but I still consider it a fun experiment so I'd rather not put the link in this thread (not to mention my users would probably stop using the site if they realize I made it as a joke). If anyone wants to PM me, I'll send the link.
