13 YR Old Kills Brother Over Video Game

A 13-year-old boy fatally stabbed his brother with a steak knife after the 16-year-old refused to turn over a video game controller, authorities said.
Jahmir Ricks was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Antwan Ricks at their home outside Philadelphia. The older boy died of a single stab wound to the chest, police said, and a bent and bloody knife was recovered from the home.

Lansdowne police said the younger boy told them, "I just stabbed my brother," when they arrived at the home Sunday.

Police believe the argument started when Antwan Ricks would not turn over the game controller after losing a game to his brother. Police Chief Daniel Kortan said the rules of the house were that the person who lost had to give someone else a chance to play.

Wow! Sad sad indeed! I remember my brother and I getting into physical fights over things all the time. We would punch each other and run around the house like crazy people, but that is the worst that would happen.

I think that kids are introduced to more violence now. Seeing a person getting shot or stabbed in a video game and then return to life a minute later could be a very confusing thing for a child to see over and over. It isn't just the video games that are responsible for the show of violence, it is on TV all the time as well.

Parents really need to be involved in what their kids are watching and playing IMO. There are warning labels and ratings on video games and TV shows for a reason. How very very sad that this young boy is going to have to live with this for the rest of his life. It is an awful thing for all those involved.
