i know, but keep in mind that... just because a group or category is taken, doesn't mean their value increases above reg-fee.

the other thing is, what's in front of the "dot" may be short, but what comes "after it" isn't

For $2, why not, right? It is a gamble, as you say. Basically a scratch off ticket, with better odds imho. Maybe you'll be able to sell it for $10 within a year. Maybe not. Maybe $5. Maybe something crazy will happen and you'll sell it for $30 or $100.

On the bright side, it looks like renewal/transfer rates for .science might be just a few bucks some places, so it has that going for it...
