It looks like the OP cannot be edited after a bid has been received (which makes sense, I guess) so here is a minor clarification:

Clarification 1: If bids are received in both $US and $NP for the same domain, NPs will be equated to US$ at the Bank's NP buy rate at the end of the auction, rounded down to the second digit after the decimal point, which for practical purposes means: bids will be compared on the basis of 100 NP dollars = 1 US dollar.

I don't want to cause disruption in the currency market, and I'm definitely not going to argue with my first bidder, so if people feel strongly about this clarification, I would consider retracting it.

Just to explain the rationale behind it, the current official $NP bank rates are as follows:

Purchase New NP$
Bank Price: $0.023 per NP$

Sell Back NP$
Bank Price: $0.012 per NP$

The one that matters more to a domain seller accepting $NP is the 'Sell Back' rate above, since sellers like me generally want to convert illiquid assets into dollars for their non-NP needs.

As the NP bank would only give me 1.2 US dollar for every 100NP, I thought it would make sense to round that to $1 per 100NP in order to make the bidding more transparent.

For most other purposes, I agree the more relevant rate is the 'Purchase' rate, which as you say is closer to $1 = 50 NP$.

Since all bidders are free to bid in US dollars of course, the precise rate used for comparison purposes wouldn't disadvantage any paricular individual or group of people - as long as it's known up front. Hence the clarification - to avoid any perception of unfairness if announced at a very late stage.
