Some decent geos in there. Would say $20 - $50 for those with 1000+ ovt.

webtv = Trademark issues. That's a problem.

The rest are all pretty much domains that don't really go with the .info ext so they aren't really that great.

.info in itself typically has little or no value.

That aside, I would say if I were going to keep any domains you might could develop satanists.info into a cult website to sell cult related products and services.

Thank you for posting!

I would have thought geographical domains are actually better suited for the .info extension than most other things - I know they are not the first choice of speculators like us because we can't flip them easily enough, but which other categories would you say are better suited for .info than place names?

DN Broker - I tend to think that .info works well as geo names. The real value in .info as I see it is not as the homepage of a company or brand but rather as PPC landing page / affiliate site.

Benefits include: there are many still available, when a term is searched the domain will be in bold, and many customers will trust a .info more than a .com when they are in the information gathering and comparison shopping phase. They don't expect to be sold something when they visit a .info site; so if you can provide solid information and then an affiliate link as a suggestion...

Well that's a good question and the answer is really not so simple. In short, something that has valuable information about it.

For example shopaholic.info ... someone really needs information about being a shopahoilc? Not really. So that makes the domain not valuable.

wbtv.info if it were not for the TM issues. Someone might actually be able to develop a valuable service that informs its visitors about the WEbTV product but because society is what it is, people will naturally go to WebTV.com instead and as such, it is the perfect example of why the .info extension is just worthless.

I didn't take the time to research these cities / towns that you registered but I am assuming they are US cities. If that is the case I see it as a huge waste of money to register a domain in a foreign countries TLD. If I lived in Germany I would be typing .com for a US city not .de.

I agree!

The irony is that .info is really big in Germany - so they must have assumed that the .info is not for sale before registering the .de version.

For the avoidance of doubt, all the .info domains above are mine, and none of the clickable alternatives are. I haven't made the infos clickable because they are all parked, so linking to them would be against the T&C.

I don't understand the comment about .info's having little value. They are currently the 6th most popular TLD and are likely to reach 2nd place behind .com within 5 years at their present rate of growth. Houston.info sold for $17,000 and Manhattan.info sold for $21,000 last Friday. NewYork.info sold for $46,000 last year and that was regarded as I think the 4th or 5th best value domain purchase of 2006 by a panel of 30 domain experts. .com is a chronically overpriced historical accident. Dot commercial means absolutely nothing inherently, it just has a massive first mover advantage. .info is what the Internet is about, it means the same thing in every Latin derived Western language. It will never overtake .com for branded corporate shop windows but for places, meanings, hobbies, home pages, free thinking start ups, and general information sites etc it will kill .com within a few years. .biz, .mobi, .net, and .tv, are worthless TLD's. .biz sounds cheap and tacky, .mobi is irrelevant because browsers will adjust content to screen resolution pretty soon making mobile references obsolete, .net is 10 years out of date and pointless pitched against .com, and finally .tuvalu is beyond a joke as a domain ending. Only a Mike TV numpty would want a domain ending with a tiny Pacific island country code because it sounds like the name of a popular electrical appliance. .info is the only domain name worth investing in, it offers brilliant value for money, and good on the Germans for getting stuck in.

A person goes into business to make money. That is what defines a business (at least legally) ... the attempt to make a profit. So let's look at your domain Munford.INFO.

There is a town called Munford, Tennessee. If you Google Munford, that's about all you get so that means Munford.INFO is attractive to the good folks who live in Munford, Tennessee. This is a VERY small market and that makes it not attractive to most people because the POTENTIAL to make money with this domain just isn't there.

Now before you jump up and say you do have a market, that XXX people like in the wonderful town of Munford, Tennessee, I remind you that this is a small market and you have to fight for market share with Munford.COM.

So now you are in compeition for a share of the market that is a) already small and b) already dominated by someone else and is small in the first place. The population was 4,708 at the 2000 census. Is a SHARE of 4,708 people really worth it?

Why would you put so much time, energy and MONEY into something like this? A smart business person wouldn't. They know the potential to make more money is elsewhere and that in a nutshell is why your .info domains have no real value.

HOWEVER all of that being said, there are always exceptions to the rules. For example, as you pointed out earlier Houston.info sold for $17,000. I would have actually held out for more if it were me but the point I'm trying to make is that Houston is the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. with a population of more than 5.5 million.

Think about how big a market that is! Besides the 5.5 million residents you also have a ton of businesses and that would justify a domain with INFORMATION about Houston. In short, the market is big enough to fight for a share of it.

Now the down side of the .info is that most people will go to houston.COM over Houston.INFO because of the way marketing works, people have .com on their brains and even though someone will say go to .info all day long and tell them 400 times in a row, there are still soem people who will by their very nature visit the .com version of the website.

Because of this known little fact, people spend less on any domain that is not a .com. By people I mean the end users - the ones who spend the larger money on domains. That is not to say that Houston.info probably won't do to shabby but in the end, the more valuable domain is Houston.COM.

If you have two domains, Houston.INFO and Houston.COM and the .info has a really nice website, even some traffic built up and then the .com has NOTHING. Just a blank page. People would pay ten times (or even higher in some cases) more for the .com version of the domain.

Sorry but .info is not .com and that's just the way it is. The only way to have a valuable .info is to own one that is part of a larger market, one that is not trademarked or has any potential legal issues associted with it.
