So do I, but not for the reason you think. Since .xxx is one of the fake New.net "domains", enabling a real .xxx TLD would cause a collision with New.net, which would likely not work out for them.

Oh, and "The International Foundation for Online Responsibility" wants .xxx? Isn't it ironic? Don't ya think?

It would open up a whole new world for the adult industry.

It would be fun to see what happens if .xxx did come to life with the whole new.net thingy lol

Are there any figures on how many of those they have sold? Guess this can put them out of business. Another issue is why new.net didn't apply for some tlds themselves to make them fully operational, like for instance .web...

I would imagine that they sold a nice amount of .xxx, its a nice ext. to me at least if your in that biz.

Everyone had an equal shot of sponsoring this ext., perhaps they didnt like the 40g+ , non-refundable, submission fee lol

Maybe, while also being a great way to restrict access to a TLD for those filtering websites for kids, etc. Somehow, I don't think that would put sex.com out of business, though. ;)

Maybe not if you actually read the proposal. It won't "truly" be seen at all, but will be a behind the scenes TLD, or really just a pseudo mail protocol.

If you own somedomain.com, you "spamfree" email would go through a somedomain.com.mail mail server. You could not register somedomain.mail.

This TLD is sponsored by spamhaus.org.

Interesting reading.

The only one of those I think would be helpful would be .tel for VoIP stuff. The others are just a redundant waste of space...

I'd guess the only one anyone here would have any direct dealings with may be .xxx, or the telname version of .tel which I don't think will be approved. I don't think the rest will be open for general registration and will be held closely to the sponsor like .museum and .coop are now.

I will also go out on a limb and predict 6 of the 10 will eventually be approved.

Personally, apart from the .xxx, .asia seems the biggest acumulator in it.

IMO of course ;)

Now that it appears .asia could be a region/culture, and .eu will be for a region instead of country, It seems to be the redelegation of .la from Laos to Los Angeles would have been better marketed as Latin America and geared to the spanish/portugese languages than a single city.
