I'd guess the only one anyone here would have any direct dealings with may be .xxx, or the telname version of .tel which I don't think will be approved. I don't think the rest will be open for general registration and will be held closely to the sponsor like .museum and .coop are now.
I will also go out on a limb and predict 6 of the 10 will eventually be approved.

I think any name will look cool as www.thing.xxx - but why isn't .mobi .mobile? .tel is much better than .mobi IMHO

I've always thought it would be funny to have .www but since that's way too confusing maybe .data or something else generic. I like .info, though, the websites I've seen built around .info are rather respectable. I hope this trend holds up...
.com seems like the all-time winner for the time being, though. I have a few resources that are .info and .org and people often ask "so it's xyzdomain.com?" and I have to correct the TLD over and over.![]()

Right, and that's the problem with adding new TLDs, no matter what they are... the majority of people still associate URLs with .com at the end. I don't know how to change that, except to just wait for people to find out about other extensions...

That reminds me.... I've seen reports from a site called news.com that actually uses the domain news.com.com. If you type in news.com it goes to news.com.com. What's with that?
Really? That's really stupid, I think. Yes, they should be more expensive, maybe $100 per year, but not $1000...Originally posted by AdoptableDomains
I read today that a .mail address will cost something like $1000 to register. Apparently similar to .kids.us, they will do a very thorough check of you background to see you've never been a spammer and will police it to see that you don't become one using the .mail protocol.
Only the very large companies will be able to afford this. so much for using it on your personal domains.
LMAO!! Good question xP only a dumb you know what would register a .mail with 100 year registrations.Originally posted by AdoptableDomains
Oops, sorry...that's $2000+ to register a .mail.
I found the article:

I wonder if NSI will offer 100 year regsitrations on these?

It's just CNET Networks, Inc. that has bought the domains com.com and news.com. There are no limitations to what kind of words you can use under .com, as far as I know.
