You are seriously saying that the stability of a leaders sanity is not important and that countless military coups are desirable for business?
Big companies like Ebay with a market value of $41B (according to
Forbes) can afford to buy domains that cost $100 with their budget and never even see the problem with it. It, along with Google, Amazon and Facebook are the Titans of the internet and can pretty much afford any domain in the world.
We domainers are slightly more limited because $100 spread over a few years on a gamble and whim is a lot more serious.
Your comparison is .me bears no resemblance, at least that country is somewhat stable as is Colombia with many times the GDP.
Have you ever seen what happens when an outside forces comes along like...I don't know, lets use the Mayans as an example. The Mayans had all this gold but had no use for it, just like native Somalians don't have the money to buy domains or anything...in most cases not even a computer.
Now, all the Spanish ended up doing is carving up bits of land between themselves but it really did not do them any good...there was gold there but they ended up sinking their ships lol
The same situation may happen with .so, unless people can figure out how to market them domains outside Africa it doesn't matter how little they cost.
At some point reality has to set in and you have to balance your budget against the possible reward and for the vast majority of us, this extension is not feasible but anyway I wish you well and good luck but it is not for me
Now, if we could have a
real .US landrush where everyone gets to register what they want I am right there, since economically America is very stable (current bankers screw up notwithstanding) and in time the value of those domains will go up. Somalia is way too unpredictable and while that is good business for gun runners it makes little sense to the rest of us.
