1&1 Internet Domain transfer or push question..

Hi, I am buying a name from someone who uses 1&1 internet so I have a few questions maybe someone can help me out with to speed things up.

Can I open an account with 1 & 1 WITHOUT registering a name ?

Can you do a free push within 1 & 1 like most places and is it instant ?

Is it easy to transfer out of 1 & 1 and do they charge you for it? - if so how much ?

I believed you can but this is 1and1 and you cannot be certain.

Nothing is easy with 1and1 but no charges to transfer out

This is your best option.
1. Get the EPP code of the domain from 1and1 and intiated your tranfer with your registrar.

2. 1and1 domain should me made public (note: 1and1 will not transfer if the privacy setting is on)

3. unlock the domain

4. wait between 7 - 10 days until the domain get transferred in your registrar

I ended up calling them and they say they don't charge to transfer out, so I'll take the best option - transfer out !

Just make sure the seller settings is Public (check the whois whether it's already change to public) and unlock as well. Those are the two most important settings to be done with 1and1. These instructions are no where to be found in 1and1 website.

I have the exact problem you had a couple weeks ago with 1and1. I bought 35 names from someone, then found out they had them at 1and1. I opened an account there (by registering a name is the only way) and then found out they charge 7 bucks for a push. I am not paying that. Did you ever fiqure out how do deal with this problem. If you transfer out, don't you still have to pay the same $7 bucks transfer fee to someone else? Just wondering, dont know what to do exactly. These names are mostly junk and not worth paying 7 bucks a piece.

Bryan...I don't think it's worth transferring within 1and1 since they charge a $7 transfer fee and I don't even think they add an additional year when transferred within them. But when you transfer out to another registrar that registrar add an additional year. If you think the domains you bought aren't worth $7 per name I don't know what to tell you. Good luck.

There is no free push at 1AND1. You need to pay for a transfer. So just transfer out to your favorite registrar instead.

wow 1and1 sucks - glad I only have 1 domain there. I will transfer my purchases out. live and learn I guess, but I'll never get near the 1and1 website again.

I took this thread as a wakeup call and transferred out my last two. Amazing how they have the EPP code buried under "info"
