Avoid 1&1 like the plague.

See other threads with horror stories about them. (Including mine)

They sent me to a debt collection service for not paying for a renewal, instead of letting it drop like everyone else does.

In my case I lost several domain names after they denied the existence of my account !

Beware of registrars bearing gifts -- especially true of 1 & 1 and Yahoo!

Yes you get a lot of aggravation for that $0.99.

I would not register a domain there if they paid me $10 to do it. The headache and waste of time dealing with them and the risk of losing the domain is just not worth it. And they make it really obscure and difficult to transfer a domain out.

Stay away and if you still are not convinced try googling 1and1 sucks.

Anyone who uses 1and1 as their registrar deserves what they get (ripped off). Irrespective of how cheap they are. They are a PITA registrar in every respect. Not even the purchase of a domain goes smoothly. It can take a domain up to a week to even appear in your control panel after purchase. With most registrars this is instantaneous.

I agree with all the pros above..I have heard horrible things & experienced some bad ones myself.

I am not even sure if they are an accredited registrar or just a reseller. pay attention because when you register a name with them you think it's yours but it's not! It takes up to 24 hrs for them to actually confirm the domain is yours. The process is not instantaneous like with Gd & Co.

For every human being alive who uses 1&1, even with a $1 code: I'm sorry, and I feel for ya

This is quite the scary thread. I will heed your advice.

But I must ask, with the years and experience under your belt, then why oh why would you fall for NetSol's 50-cent gimmick?

Worst Company out there!

(sorry bad English)

It takes forever to get your dns updated and your domain unlocked. I won't recommend them even if you plan to transfer the domains out...

NetSol sucks. I "fell" for their 50-cent gimmick just to secure a domain I never really wanted but figured I'd test the waters with. It gets a few bucks on parking, so I'm willing to low $1 getting it to GoDaddy

I'd like to test too. But i'm scared they would get my credit card number on their permanent database. And have to learn how to speak German just to file a complaint.

It appears to have worked for some people :(

Maybe you should try to transfer out one of the domain names from 1and1 first. Really a nightmare. It would discourage anyone.
