I just saw on the dnjournal that Fish.com sold for $1,020,000 at Afternic!!!!

Fish.com could be an aweswome directory for the countless boating companies, penn fishing reels, bait and tackle, fishing trips. This is literally a billion dollar industry. Can'y wait to see what they do with the site.

they have already said what they are going to do with the site, the owner of dog.com purchased the name and will build a fish supplies website to cater to that segment of the pet supllies industry this is not a mystery.

While the price may seem high this name was not bought by a domainer looking to ppc using all the ratios there that decide value. This was bought by an end user with a proven bsuiness model he stated how much year over year sales were for DOG.com.

Not if the buyer believes it to be worth that much. Just like buying a car or a home you will not spend more then you feel it is worth. Obviously with a domain such as this and the people who bought it they have the idea and ability apparently to turn that into a multi-million dollar domain.

Just think of all those companies who have brought in millions through the web.

If it fails then they can just sell their mascot to someone else and recover the cost of the domain... :hehe:

It only seems to much money if you are not the seller lol, I'm sure he thinks it was just the right amount or perhaps to little. I'm sure the buyer had a very good idea how much he would make with that domain though and was willing to pay that much.

i dont think it's that silly/smelly considering they own the address forever if they want, remember the "locatation,location,location" rule in internet realestate!

Great name but imo not worth that much $$$

The new owners had a million to spend on this premium name. The mere fact that they had the money to spend indicates that they :

1) Have too much money and wanted to get rid of some

2) Have a solid business plan that will make their investment seem like fish bait.

In this business , and the majority of others,if you think small that is probably what you will get, the tiddlers. Think big and get the whale
