Thank you. I guess i just couldn't pass up the free+p*rns combination. I learned that decent names are snapped up pretty quickly on ExpiredDomains. One thing I did notice was the .org for the FreeP#rns name. It would serve you well to research sales as far as the extensions go with certain names or categories. For instance, .Org has been historically used for non profit type names and functions and the majority of past sales are related to those topics. There are always sales outside of what the extension is primarily used/known for but my point is that by learning the different attributes of extensions, you give yourself that much more chance of a successful sale.
Keeping it very simple:
1. Dot Com is king
2. Dot Net is great for tech like names
3. Dot Org is well suited for non profit but is becoming popular for crypto as well
Like I said, the above is simplifying it waaay down but I think it will help you.
Thank you. Marketing insights and trends from experienced domainers helps a lot.A lot depends on whether your looking to flip - or be ahead of the market. I always had confidence in my domains but, that was at a time when the market was focusing on 'Exacts' . as that market died mine as what I'd like to call 'terminology' arrived. You have to have patience and confidence (and recognise your bad bets) takes you forward.
God knows how many bad bets I had with the .net extension - thinking it was just a matter of time
All are hand-regs and expired domains. I am on a strictly beginners budget, at least for the time being. If these are all hand-registrations then your on the right mindset. There's a lot to be had on the secondary market but that is a whole different perspective and understanding (plus hours)
I agree with you on the free + porn on any of the major extensions (the plural just being overly fringe though)
@H Malsawmtluanga Welcome to namepros!
Nice handregs! The hardest thing is always evaluation, how much is the name worth, decision about renewal or dropping. We all make mistakes - try to make as less as possible or better learn from mistakes other made.
Hello everyone!
It has been 2 months since I entered the domain business. I joined Namepros on January 30th, 2018. I hesitate to call myself a 'domainer' at the moment because I haven't made any sales, and I am not in a hurry to do so.
I want to share my journey with everyone here on Namepros and ask for advice, appraisals and comments. I would also like to ask you to rank the domains in my portfolio in terms of value. For a newbie like myself, every bit of advice from experienced domainers is greatly helpful. If other newbies could learn from my mistakes, that would also be great.
The first name I hand-registered was a trademark violation. I wonder if any of you have done the same! At that point, I know absolutely nothing about domaining, and after reading a bit about TM violations on domain names, I deleted the domain, forgive myself and move on. Next domain I registered is for my personal use.
My entire portfolio and my reason for registering of each domain (in the order of registered date):
MoneyRaid .com - Hand-regged, combining a popular keyword with anything remotely related which was available to register.
EstateBeach .com - Same as the above with a particular niche in mind, and not knowing how the wrong order of keywords affects its value.
ViralDrugs .com - I feel this will have value in the pharmaceutical industry, with online pharmas becoming more mainstream.
BtcCounter .com - I decided to try and enter the crypto domain business, and look for keywords that makes sense. I feel this domain can be used as a trading counter for bitcoin, or a cryptocurrency blog, or a bitcoin trading statistics displayer site (or something like that)
RecoverVideos .com - Sensible keyword combination with good search volume, I have often find myself searching for ways to recover deleted files, so I feel it has some value.
OptimumBitcoin .com - Another crypto domain, I feel the keyword optimum goes well with bitcoin, and it conveys the sense that people will get the optimum/maximum value for their bitcoin investments.
FreeP*rns .org - * represents 'o'. Even though I am not very keen on adult names, I decided to purchase this domain since the keywords are quite good in my opinion. It also has a good exact search volume according to Estibot. My first (and only) dot org.
PrivateBrowsers .com - With online privacy becoming a global discussion, and browsers being our main interface with the online world, I feel this will have value. And I am also keen on tech/internet related domains.
Globalised .net - One word domain, and I feel the .net actually helps the domain (for globalised/mainstream internet presence), even though it may hurt its value. My first and only dot net.
There you have it, my entire portfolio. I have learned a lot in the last 2 months (mainly on Namepros), but I still have lots and lots to learn from you. And I look forward to doing so.
Any comments, appraisals, advice, criticisms, tips, etc. regarding my portfolio will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
I believe learning from experienced domainers, while still maintaining a healthy confidence in your abilities is very important. After all, nobody knows about your strengths and weaknesses more than yourself. Best of luck Anjani! You surely are a disciplined dreamer.
I started around same time and went on a rampage until better senses prevailed
Good Luck, I surely see you in the same mold as typical namepros warriors.
MoneyRaid and BTCCounter are strongest for me. The others I'd let drop after 1 year if no interest, these two I might commit to for longer.
I'd ask $3-5k from end user IF one comes about. Don't expect a sale but work on assembling a portfolio of names at same level or better and if you have a good group, then sales should happen.
