Now I understand how Abdul Basit might receive so many inquiries on domains in a month. We just got told by Godaddy about over 2700 inquiries on our domains during the last couple of months. We hadn’t been told before because none of the contacts turned into qualifying-offer negotiations, or weren’t near our min. offers.
It seems obvious that prospective buyers go to the most widely-known domain place, Godaddy. They don’t know how to contact owners, otherwise, I guess — or else prefer to stay anonymous. Nearly all our domains are listed with public contact details on Whois, but these people didn’t use it.
If you have a decent size portfolio listed on Afternic (or simply some good domains there), make sure you’re checking in with Godaddy to see about inquiries activity. You may want to follow up.
