I think Epik is Epic because of the difference and this is common nowadays.
I named my son Kameron instead of Cameron just to set him apart.
An early mentor at Procter & Gamble taught me that "Brands should not work too hard". In other words, you can have an overarching brand that has a certain broad promise that is to a certain audience, but then specific products with specific brands have their own promises.
P&G was a good training ground for me. I was there for 9 years. P&G was and is to shareholders, consumers and employees, as having a certain set of promises. On the other hand, specific brands Pampers, Charmin, Gillette, and Febreze have their own set of promises that tend to be fairly constant even as the product changes.
I view Epik as being a sort of promise -- it is a promise for "Digital Empowerment". Within that promise, we now have a growing suite of products, each with their own set of promises, that sit neatly under the "Brand Umbrella" of Digital Empowerment. The sequencing is very much market-driven.
