Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I just sold a premium domain on Afternic which was priced $4,999 on Atom. Unfortunately they won't be honoring the external sale bonus because it was priced $11 under the required $5,499 on Afternic (9.8% instead of the required 10%).

I remember reading a while back that you had a little leeway with the pricing so that you could, for example, list it at $5,488 or other similar charm pricing. The portfolio health check seems to confirm this as it will not complain if the price isn't too far away from the $5,499 point.

Unfortunately this isn't actually the case. It's not a huge amount to worry about, but it's left a tiny bit of a sour taste in my mouth regardless. @Atom.com what happened to a bit of good will with your domain investors? Maybe a "we'll honor it this time. Just make sure the rest of your domains are priced above 10% in future". Nope, not happening apparently.

So if any one else might have priced their domains similarly, I advise giving them a quick look. Just because they pass the portfolio health check does not guarantee they will qualify.

To Atom: If you insist on being so rigid with the pricing, can I suggest that you amend the portfolio health checker so that it is more in line with the exact values that meet the requirements because 9.8% clearly doesn't. Thanks.

@Atom.com your premium discovery is not working properly to surface Atom Premium names. Further it is not optimized properly. See issues below:

I did a keyword search today for "lattice".
You returned 83 results on page 1.
You returned 92 listings on page 2.
The top of the page shows "includes" and "exact" tabs buyers can choose to surface alternate names.
The bottom of the listings on Page 1 simply end, showing a button for page 2.

it appears to me the first 12 results are Atom Premium listings. The remaining 71 listings shown appear to be Standard.

This would be fine, except for the following:
LatticeNow {dot} com is a premium listing.
Lattice {dot} now is a premium listing.

Neither the exact match term in .now nor a lattice match in dot com is showing at all. And yet you are surfacing what appear to be 163 Standard listings instead of surfacing Premium listings, one of which is an exact match name and the other is a com mashup including the word "lattice" that is similar in structure to the first 11 returned results (all two worders containing the word lattice).

Note Standard #'s are identified by the fact they do not have logos) Obv the exact number could be incorrect, but it is likely not far off.

Clicking to page 2
The tabs at the top disappear (buyers can no longer search "includes" or "exact").
Then, you show 92 add'l Standard listings.
LatticeNow {dot} com, a premium listing, is still not surfaced.
Lattice {dot} now, a premium listing, is still not surfaced.

The results end and there is no page 3.

Next: clicking back to page 1 from page 2.
Five new sections appear at the bottom of the page that were not previously shown. They include in this order:
1- Best of lattice โ€” One Word .ai Picks
2- Best of lattice โ€” Short Domains (the exact match .now surfaces here)
3- Best of Lattice - Playful & Whimsical
4- Best of Lattice - Modern & Tech-Forward (both the .now and the .com surface here).
5- Best of Lattice - Abstract & Conceptual

You have bugs (tabs disappearing, sections appearing that previously were not shown).
You have surfacing issues (showing Standard listings above exact match Premiums and above obv com mashup Premiums). The results end and these names were never surfaced. That is simply unacceptable. It's not like they were surfaced last and we're having a difference of opinion on what page or order to surface them. They were never surfaced at all (except in a section that only appears if someone goes back to a prior page)

A buyer searches Lattice, and sees all the following Standard listings

Pg 1
Lattice.bio
Lattice.dev
Lattice.studio
Lattice.id
Lattice.ml
Lattice.chat

Pg 2
Lattice.my
Lattice.cc
Lattice.media
Lattice.agency
Lattice.nl
Lattice.de

But you never surface the only exact match premium on your website, Lattice .now

And second, doing the same search, you do not surface LatticeNow .com at all. In a list that includes mashup after mashup of lattice+keyword and keyword+lattice names and further includes brandable names that are quite dissimilar to the term Lattice imho. We can debate this last point, but we cannot debate the fact it is omitted altogether.

I'm sincerely hoping these are bugs rather than features by design. Please let me know

Thanks for flagging this. We were running an A/B test that caused some inconsistent behavior on certain search results. That's been corrected, and any remaining pages or keywords will resolve on their own within the next 24 hours as the cache clears. Appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

I have listed 7 domains in Atom from last 2 months. So far no sell happened.
I am planning to list more.

At these numbers, it will take you 7 to 14 years to sell your first domain, using an industry standard 1-2% STR.

Hope you've got a cozy chair.

Note Standard #'s are identified by the fact they do not have logos

This is incorrect and will more than likely make your numbers WAY off.

I know plenty of high-end domain investors who smartly refuse to use logos due to the inherent UDRP risk, not to mention many users are much too busy to waste time on adding logos and other crap like this, so quickly filtering them to your specific mindset will certainly inflate your guesstimates way past usability.

Not saying Atom search is working properly, only that using obviously faulty data doesn't present your case very well.

Any Expectations or Optimism for BETA Outbound?
It has to be done very carefully, that is for sure, and they have to approach prospective buyers in very general terms. I don't think I will opt in.

I agree but I opted in.

ATOM has several MAJOR factors an individual domainer lacks.

1) No automatic email spam filter rejections.
2) No automatic email spam filter rejections.
3) No automatic email spam filter rejections.

ha. My purchase receipts from Atom go right to spam.

Any Expectations or Optimism for BETA Outbound?

Is the acronym for that UDRP?

The most dangerous thing you can do with a valuable domain is approach a TM owner with an offer to sell.
