Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Dynadot has stated that they currently prioritise the lowest price to be displayed. I would assume they would carry through the listing details from wherever they grab the price?...
Thanks for that information. Makes sense.

When syndication flows from Atom to Dynadot, what's the typical markup% applied, if any, and does that % remain consistent across all pricing tiers? How are prices rounded after syndication?

I don't have Atom listings to test, however Andrew said that DD displayed the Atom price. I assumed that would be the case across the board, and that DD just takes a small % from any sale (which comes from Atom's commission).

Edit: his test was for Premium - given that Plus listings attract a lower commission, it's not clear whether there would be any markup on those, though I am guessing not (in order to keep it consistent).

@Future Sensors This is where DD said about using the lowest price:

.@Dynadot: when a domain name is listed on Atom, Afternic and Sedo, which do you choose to list in your registration path?

Is it based on relationship, price highest, price lowest, most profit to Dynadot, a combination, or some other reason?

Thanks for clarifying in advance.โ€ฆ https://t.co/PjwgyrLbde

@Atom.com When I search Dynadot using full domain names from my Atom Premium portfolio, Dynadot consistently shows my domains with Afternic partner pricing. For example, a name listed at $25,000 on Atom Premium is displayed at $28,500 on Dynadot. Could you please clarify why Dynadot is giving precedence to the Afternic partner feed over Atom's direct syndicated feed for all of these Atom Premium domains? This pattern holds across every pricing tier I've checked so far. Thanks.

I just checked some of my Standard listings where my price at Atom is actually higher than my price at Afternic. Dynadot is showing the lower Afternic price -- so it does appear they are giving priority to Afternic over Atom regardless of the price at Afternic being higher or lower than Atom.

Note that this Atom->DD integration doesn't apply to Standard listings, at least not yet.

To combat this, what I've now done is add all my 763 Atom Premiums to Sedo and mark them as "Not for sale". This prevents them from appearing in Sedo search results.

You can do this by first adding your personal Sedo TXT verification record in Atom โ†’ Custom DNS, then verifying ownership at Sedo.

Show attachment 306711

Immediately mark each domain as "Not for sale" on Sedo, once they're imported.

For Sedo Bulk uploads via CSV, only fill the fields "Domain name", and "For Sale". No other fields are required.

Set "For Sale" = no.

Sedo CSV template:

Domain name
Selling Option
For Sale
Price
Minimum Price
Currency
Action Type
A far simpler, more global solution would be for Atom to buy out Sedo.

Thanks for flagging this.

To clarify a few things:

All Premium listings have already been synced. Plus listings are in the process of being rolled out (this should complete in the next 1-2 days). Standard listings and any Make Offer listings (without a BIN price) are not syndicated to Dynadot or other partners.

On pricing: Dynadot doesn't add any markup on their side. Your listing price stays the same, and if a domain sells through their platform, we share a portion of our commission with them. When a domain is syndicated to Dynadot from multiple sources, our understanding is that Dynadot displays the lowest-priced listing.

Since this integration is new, it's possible some edge cases are still being worked through, which may explain the price discrepancies you're seeing.

If you continue to see any discrepancies after Monday/Tuesday next week, please share some examples via chat or email and we will investigate them further.

Dynadot does not show Plus level names priced below a certain amount. Do you happen to know what that pricing is @Atom.com ?

All my .now domains are Plus listings (with BINs) and none of them show in Dynadot's search path.

I'm guessing this affects it at present:

Actually, Dyna does this as a matter of policy (having nothing to do with this partnership). They do not show prices below certain amounts (due to processing fees & profits). I was just wondering if Atom knew the exact amount(s).

@Atom.com Feature suggestion

In Atom Auctions & Atom Wholesale, can you show renewal fees? Many gTLDs are "premium" and it would be nice if the premium renewal price was listed (rather than having to use an external tool for discovery).

Can this be added? ๐Ÿ™

In case you wonder who does it, here's an example

I wonder how this Premium domain, which is for sale as a Premium in the wholesale marketplace, was approved at such a wild valuation (no offense to the owner):
