Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I found one $4888 name that appears *, but several others don't (including one that is registered at Dyna and FT enabled).

Also, I got no response from a broker in two weeks. I'm tired of this shitshow, thinking of switching exclusively to Spaceship.

* edit: no, all prices that are showing are from Atom

Thanks for raising this, Furquan. We identified an issue where some listings weren't visible at Dynadot. We worked with the team at Dynadot to investigate, and they fixed the display issue for these listings yesterday evening.

Yup, that's fixed now. On another note, I'm not seeing estimated values anymore at GD or AN, which is good but probably temporary, and "why it's great" at GD seems to have been revised (or I've been living under a rock):

edit: est. values started appearing again on AN

I was always told Afternic couldn't fully rebrand to Godaddy due to existing contracts with registrars, and other search path partners, but looks like in Early July, they rebranded to Godaddy, at the same time, seems natural bin buys totally fell off the map, and sales really came to a snail's pace. Curious to know what has changed in terms of partner agreements, and what has been lost, and how can such things be regained?

Dear @Afternic @GoDaddy

Please arrange your payment system to work by logic !! Your system/staff working like parrot fashion !
Domain sold by LTO and first payment sent by paypal, just complete the process with same payment method used before for that sold domain, EVEN if i changed the payment method later for different new sale occurred, Any change in payment method should NOT apply for previous sales happened .

Changing payment method should effect/apply ONLY to NEW sale happened/happening .
Please update your policy or ask your staff to use their brain and work smarter .

Here second payment sent by wire transfer ๐Ÿ‘‡ while the first payment was by paypal !!!! ( because i change the payment method )

$169.17 became $143.17 because of $25 deducted for unwanted illogical wire transfer for a small amount !! A pure waste !!

Question about how Afternic brokers handle pricing push-backs.

When a lead status changes to "Negotiations Stalled" and it says:

Buyer indicated the domain was priced outside of what they wanted to spend

How is this handled by the broker? Do they try to find out what the buyer DID want to spend? Or do they just close the ticket and move on? How's it work?

I'm asking because I've yet to be contacted in these cases to see if I'm willing to lower the price.

I've inquired on a few of these and (assuming you have a reasonable 'minimum bid') essentially this is code for "Deadbeat".

If the buyer makes a counter offer, then the Afternic brokers will forward it to you. I've had this happen a ton of times, and either accept it and buy some other domains or reject it and hope they come back.

But this "Buyer indicated the domain was priced outside of what they wanted to spend" notation usually means "buyer has no money and was just playing around".

* Again, the above is assuming you have a real minimum bid on the domain that weeds out the hobos, and not something stupid like $20-$100, where virtually every inquiry will be from a penniless deadbeat.

I do get counter offers on names that get an offer. That works. But in this case, it's when the buyer requests the price (using the new BIN feature on names priced under $10K). And it seems to happen even on lower priced names.

I just find it odd (frustrating?) that the lead status moves to Negotiation, and I can see some back and forth between buyer and broker, yet there's never any interaction with me, the seller, concerning the price... like if I'm willing to negotiate, for example. I can't help but wonder if when the buyer says "That price is too high" the broker simply says "Okay, thanks anyway."

Based on a recent sale on UD after stalled lead on Afternic, that message means buyer is not ready to spend more than what he offered for the domain in question, but with a caveat, he may have more money but don't want to go over his prepared budget.

Personally I think Afternic is missing more transparency on broker vs buyer chat, we don't see what exactly they said to each other, considering that there are even calls by phone sometimes, as I saw on second sale, who knows what they said to each other, a transcript of such phone calls would be great. :xf.laugh:

But there's no offer mentioned. The buyer simply requested the price. The buyer was told the price. The buyer apparently thought the price was too high. If I were handling the lead I'd try to find out what price the buyer had in mind and attempt to negotiate. Does the broker do that? Since I've never been contacted by a broker in these cases to discuss the price, it leaves me wondering how this situation is handled.

I couldn't agree more.

But the broker would already do that, and you shouldn't lose any sleep over this.

Like I said, I've asked brokers what's up with this and it's always a hobo, a lowballer or a deadbeat. The examples he gave were hilarious and ranged from "the buyer only wanted to pay registration fee" to "He said his budget would be extinguished at anything over $200", and similar. Others were even nuttier, such as one guy typing in the domain and thinking he was making a charitable donation.

For the broker to write out a response like "the buyer wouldn't go over his $10 limit" for every hobo he encounters would be a monstrous waste of time. If he got a real offer, he would certainly forward it to you.

But it's just hobos, yahoos and nitwits clogging things up, so just ignore them and move on.

Some domains that were recently listed for sale don't show up in the GD reg path, even though the Afternic dashboard says everything is working.

Other domains, in the contrary, were unlisted days ago but are still available for purchase through the GD reg path.

Hi, I noticed that too about a month ago. But knowing GoDaddy, I decided to check it through VPN and different browsers. And sure enough, in some cases the "Why it's great" panel shows how many times the domain has been searched, while elsewhere it still shows idiotic " average sale price". I mean I'm talking about the exact same domain.

Filled out a ticket yesterday. 1 day later still not working. Using NS 1,2, all names eligible for the fast transfer network. Names set up with price with lease to own option. Just sitting there syncing
