Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Simple question for @GoDaddy

Why are we able to sort these columns:

But not these?

Hi @411domains
The simple answer is that there is additional work required to get these columns to sort. Various data sources need to interact correctly, which requires some sizable behind the scenes work. Sorting by views is an important factor for the utility of this data by sellers - we're aware of that, and we are working to roll out the sorting capabilities for these columns.

@GoDaddy - It really isn't that complicated.

By "Various data sources," I'm guessing you're referring to BIN landers, Request Price landers Godaddy/Afternic DAN landers as well as DAN's own independently operated landers.

The solution is simple. Keep sources in house. Exclude DAN.com platform stats. Problem solved.

Afternic has no business showing DAN's traffic stats anyway, but it does. (Exact match stats to be precise.)

This is a gross misrepresentation of data.

K.I.S.S. and you'll have fewer issues moving forward. I promise.

Hi @411domains,
We want to clarify that "various data sources" refers to data from other columns on the Afternic portfolio page. Afternic's "Views" column only displays visitor statistics for traffic to the three Afternic landing pages, all of which are listed here: https://www.afternic.com/sales-landers (excluding CashParking).

Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback.

@GoDaddy - That sounds great and all, but I'm afraid you may want to doublecheck that with the team to be absolute certain.

If Afternic's "views" column only displays visitor statistics for the three Afternic landing pages, then I should be seeing all zeros in my Afternic "views" column.

I use only DAN landers. Therefore, comparing the data is easy.

Question:

If I use only DAN landers and the Afternic "views" column only displays stats from Afternic landers, how is it possible for the data to match?

It looks to me like Afternic is harvesting DAN's traffic stats and are reporting them as their own.

Note: Edited to correct spelling errors.

regarding the ability to sort on the columns Views / Offers / Leads -- can you at a minimum add those columns to the portfolio download? I can then sort them in a spreadsheet...

Now that you're on the subject:

Is a distinction made between the many crawlers and humans?

How are repeat visits and reloads counted?

Without knowing this, we cannot give it the proper value it may deserve.

No matter how hard I try...no matter how many different ways (one message at a time or in bulk) the messages remain.

I have the same issue. It's a bug. Only 'delete all' is working for me. I've given up reporting these things... Good to see your reporting this.

Thanks for letting me know what worked for you...that is the only thing I did not try as there are a few pages of notices. Guess I have to review them all before attempting 'delete all'.

I just don't understand the number of bugs, both big and small, that never get corrected. The pockets are certainly deep enough to fix these things.

ADD: The 'delete all' was effective.

Hi @GoDaddy

could you please clarify what happens when a buyer fails to accept a domain he bought and paid for via non-fast-transfer? There seems to be two different procedures currently floating around:

1.
"As a worst case scenario, if the buyer does not take ownership of the domain within 10 business days (two weeks), the transaction will get escalated and we will create an account at the registrar to move the domain to. We then release the funds to the seller."

2.
"But i contacted after support via call and he told me if buyer not responsive with 14 days then we will cancel the transaction and will return domain to you."

Thanks!

Hi @GoDaddy Any updates on this?

Anyone else having issue with updating their price at Afternic?

Screenshot 2024-03-11 at 10.25.47 AM.png

Already reported the issue to them and want to know if others are facing the same issue as me.

Only workaround for this bug is to delete the name and add it back.

EDIT: No long having issue with updating the price.

Afternic issued a fix for the Adblocker that was blocking landing pages. I checked on Chrome and Firefox and Price Request lander loads for me.

Hi everyone,
We have released a small but significant update that you'll notice if you visit your Afternic portfolio today. Based on feedback, we have made both the domain and actions columns sticky so they are always visible when you're adjusting your domain's settings. In addition to that, there's a column toggle to the right that improves your column navigation.

Thank you to everyone who shared this feedback with us.

Previously GoDaddy's domain name search showed the estimated value for all GD-aftermarket names (I think), now only for those that are underpriced compared to their estimates. Is that an unannounced update or just an experiment? Anyway, it's a good change.

Sorry to disappoint, but the columns and navigation are still terrible. Why not just copy DAN's implementation? It's a breath of fresh air.

@GoDaddy , please note I have just sold a domain name that is NOT available for fast transfer ( alt extension registered in a registrar that is not part of the fast transfer network ) . Upon transfer this particular registrar issues usually an auth code which is 64! characters long. On Afternic platform there is no sufficient space to paste it when it comes to providing transfer codes manually in the relevant field. Of course we can contact with TA to facilitate the transaction and guide the buyer, however there could be some improvement here by enabling the field for more characters. Not sure if this is why it took ages to complete the transfer or not, but I believe with this improvement you can free up Transaction Assurance team a bit of extra time/work. Thanks

@GoDaddy - How about you guys start focusing on the filters & tools that have been requested more than anything else over the years?

Apologies if this was asked before but for the "expedited payouts", are custom link sales included? https://blog.afternic.com/expedited-payout/

I sold one domain using a custom link and transfer completed last week but still nothing

new problem with godaddy :

Hello,

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, domains that are under 60-day lock outside of GoDaddy can not be sold via Lease To Own. We will need to cancel this sale.

Best regards,

Afternic Transaction Assurance

@GoDaddy you continue to unpleasantly surprise your domain sellers! Before last changes I could find the domain on Afternic and see the other domains of this owner. Now search leads to Godaddy page (???), and it is impossible to see the owner portfolio. It seems that you listened to my advice and decided to terminate Aftenic Only GD page is a completely uncomfortable platform for the domain marketplace. Moreover, GD team, without clarifying the reasons, blocked my account there and did not return my domain, which was registered by GD. I do not recommend anyone to deal with Godaddy as registrar. Moreover, you decided to close Afternic., where many clients go in search of domains. But they are surprised in the fact that the search now leads to your main resource GD. However, you have a bright place. This is Dan.com. I recommend that you develope it as a best trading platform.I ask your team to urgently solve three big problems

1 I want to know the portfolio of domainer, from whom I am going to buy a domainat Afternic. Now this is impossible, but it was realized earlier. If I am looking for a some domain using Whois service , then the system immediately redirects me to Godaddy, not to Afternic landing page. And I can not see domainer porfolio at GD purchase page!

2 We need domain verification ONE time and in ONE place. Now domainers need to do verifications twice - at AFTERNIC and DAN. This is nonsense. I bought several hundred domains, and now I have to lose an astronomical amount of time for verification. This is a very important and pressing question

3 Make a autosyndication with Squadhelp.com ! I want to list my domains in one place and be sure that they will be listed on all domain marketplaces! SH did it wih Sedo. And you?

Yes is possible to see other domains of a owner ( of course if privacy is NOT ON )
Example: https://www.afternic.com/domain/NeomGigacity.com 😜

This is URL to see a domain on Afternic
Click on link you can see LAND page & go from there for full portfolio

Cheers

OK This is really good!
I guess I came across a private profile. But there are two more questions left, of which one is very important for me. If GD boughts a few markets, is it really necessary to do verification on each of them?

imo YES
Here on NP are some people ( i can't call domainers or members ) who watch threads on sale sections & verify domains if are listed on marketplaces and if not they pretend to be owners , put on sale on this markets & if by chance someone buy they come to real owner & offer $10 😉

I even recomend on DAN for example to be mandatory the unique code have each on account when we want to list a domain in this way a stranger can't list a domain

I know that. But I consider my first question to be unresolved, since I was looking for a domain through a check by Whois service, and I was forwarded not to Afternic landing page, but to Godaddy purchase page. I consider that incorrect.
The domain marketplace should be convenient for sellers, and not for rogues! If GD realizes verification in one place (f.e. at Afternic), this will solve all problems
