It seems the price increases are kicking in across many registrars as the hours tick on. Just noticed they went from 8.49 at Epik to 9.99 in the last little while.

Perhaps others could post any price increases they have/are experiencing. The thieves that run .com will soon notice a decrease in registrations. In my case, I will let 25 to 30 percent of my names drop.

LOL! Yeah, what the heck is happening there?! Definitely transferring out of @epik . They're out of touch - Wish @Rob Monster could do something... Something's a miss! Coincidently he steps down and renewal prices jump to $35?! WTH?! LOL
I don't want to get too deep into Rob, but I think (my opinion) that his beliefs and support of certain people has seriously hurt Epik over the past few years and that me reflected in their bottom line. I'm guessing this, but replacing Rob seems to clean things up a bit.

Look, they lost Paypal and Afternic fast transfer. Those were huge. There are possibly other things I am not aware of, but lets remember that Epik and/or Rob has been branded as a hate group.

Last year NPR did an article on Rob, one line was:

"Monster then went on to describe white supremacist leaders as "shock jocks" who should not be taken seriously."

Sorry, they are white supremacists, not "shock jocks". Anyway, the damage is done. I m done with Epik. Epik may being done be a leader. Only time will tell.

you've got $9.99 for renewal rates, consider yourself lucky or maybe you just have crap tons more domains than I do!

It's arbitrary. They probably factor in your account age or money you bring them. I have just about 10 domains at Epik on average.

I only use them when I purchase something already at Epik these days , then move out asap or when convenient.

With current pricing they're just a pitstop before consolidating at a more reliable and trusted alternative.

Am I the only one who realizes they have Paypal back? For months...
I havent checked recently, but are you sure "for months" ?

note: your portfolio shows "403 (002) pixie proxy"

It was available as of 7/20. That is when I purchased the domain referenced in my signature.

I would not have purchased the domain if they did not take Paypal. I don't trust Epik with my CC information after that massive data breach, where credit card and CVV numbers were reportedly stored in plain text.

Just a matter of time before it's $100 per year. Then $5000 to register your domain.

Eventually every word will be bought and paid for. Only (500) Tokens to own the word "Health"

You go to the all-knowing viewing portal, enter the word "Health" and are sent directly to your trusted neighborhood health-care physician.
Time to add 9 to 10 years to your precious .com domains.

I let go of my last remaining nets and orgs a few years ago.... I can't believe i have to let go a chunk of my coms now. Speculators are long dead.

I stopped playing with .net a long time ago. Had some hopeful .orgs, but its too tricky. Only doing .COM and experimenting with .XYZ bulk buys of patterns/filters.

I also renewed my domains the were due for renewal till the end of October before the price increase. My next renewal expenses are in November.
I don't think its such a big deal anyway. I think we all have some names that would not make any difference if we dropped them. Time to build powerful portfolios that really have a future. No need to hold names just because the renewal fee is not too high.

I see many domains I wanted are dropping, now I question myself if I really need them, but probably not.

sentiment here seems to sound like the beginning of the end of "KING" com...

I also transferred to Epik and will continue to transfer to lowest priced cost-of-renewal just to "stay in the game"...

Now it is at the two week mark since I started this thread and still no word from epik...disappointing to say the least.

It seems SAV has a transfer deal of 8.55 until the end of September.

Sure drop 10% of worst to cover inflation if buying to sell at $20 or just absorb it.

The problem with this advice is that most people, if not all, won't precisely identify what is their worst 10%.

If you had a magic tool for that, on that alone, you'd become very rich.

Just a quick update.

There has been no response to my emails...first time EVER this has happened since I started using Epik many years ago. As the saying goes 'all things must pass'.

To be fair, other registrars have been somewhat lackluster as well...perhaps those of us here with hundreds or thousands of domains should get together and start our own.

Does anyone have an update as to any transfer deals?

Just looking over it, I see Namebright has .com transfers "at cost". This is $8.97 that Verisign charge for a .com plus $0.18 of ICANN fee. So a .com transfer to Namebright is $9.15

https://www.namebright.com/Pricing

EDIT: Although I guess there's another registrar accepting a loss in domain transfers till the end of September, now looking at your previous post:

Thank you for the information re: namebright.

The sav price is good, but not sure about their service as a whole. I need to spend some time here checking out their ratings/comments, etc.

Headed out for a meeting now but will give NB a look and do some research about SAV this evening. Truth be told, I was hoping the 'new management' at epik would have been more responsive. Such a pain to move so many names.

The market for domain names is getting worse,
The renewal price is getting higher and higher,
I really don't want anyone alive

From what I've read, Epik support is pretty poor these days (or hit and miss, at best) which is a shame. If I have a particular issue (rare) I tend to email Jess Robison direct as she's always helpful. For pricing, I reckon I'd still recommend emailing Rob and see what he says. (Just my opinion, I don't have any inside info.) As far as I'm aware he is still involved, just not CEO anymore.
Personally, I did a heap of renewals @ $8.49 prior to the price rise and now don't have anything expiring pre-Sept 2023.
