I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Read the fine print. For promo you either pay the $15 renewal or $15 to unlock the name. I jumped on their promo.

Man, I haven't seen that scam in a long time.

go try unlock your domain cabotower
I renewed at $15cad cause is 15usd to unlock and transfer if you didnt renew at regular price. Fine print. Cira should be slapped for allowing them on promotions page
Edit: had to renew each one individually on cc cause of netsol type support

So... if I wanted to transfer a domain from Doteasy.com to Godaddy (for example), I would first have to pay Doteasy.com $15 USD just to unlock the domain, plus the usual/normal cost to transfer out to GoDaddy?

Are registrars even allowed to charge you to just unlock a domain? That's not even a service...

Registars used to do that way back when to dissuade people from transferring out, but I haven't heard of it returning in a very long time. I think they all got shamed to death.

The crap Registars used to pull (and get away with) would make your hair go white.

doteasy.com terms of service

Domain transfer services are included only for active domain names that are either registered or renewed through Doteasy at the regular rate. Members may transfer expired domain names and domain names that were purchased at a promotional rate to another domain name registrar by paying a Domain Transfer Fee. The Domain Transfer Fee is based on the domain type and is subject to any applicable taxes.

US$15.00 .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, .ca, .eu, .mobi, .club, .link, .work, .xyz, .top, .cloud, .asia

Interesting lol. Definitely a borderline scam, if not outright.

They can't just hide unreasonable terms like that in TOS/fine print. Courts have acknowledged that nobody reads that shit so anything in there has to be "reasonable" and pass the "what would the reasonable person think" test. That said, I can't see anyone challenging them on it... The most efficient way to have them remove that fee would probably be by shaming them for it, like @DomainRecap mentioned earlier... but then their "promo" would most certainly disappear.

Anyone pick up anything nice? DomainRecap, I was surprised not to see B12.CA and Inspections.ca not on your list... Picked up fast again today.

I got:
Axer.ca (could be typo of acer or an axe throwing business)
igvn.ca (had some backlink posibilities)
Dealt.ca (good poker or card game site)
Rewardz.ca (could be used like rakuten)
Slept.ca
2027.ca

Netsol and anyone associated with them should be avoided like the plague. They push all their practices to borderline scam level. They don't show pricing on their website, just searching for a domain automatically puts it into your shopping cart, initial prices are almost always considered a promo so that they can hide the renewal prices from you (which are like $40 range). And they auto-renew domains a couple months before expiry, so by the time you think about moving a domain out, too late, they've already charged your credit card. They use the "for your security" guise as a way to make it difficult to transfer domains, and when you do try, only then do they use it as an opportunity to offer a more reasonable renewal price. They rely 100% on people who are ignorant to typical domain pricing, or are too lazy or busy to jump through the transfer hoops, or are a business where the employees don't give a shit what price they pay, they just process the bill. As a domainer, if you deal with netsol, you'll likely regret it. As for any associated companies, I just figure they are guilty by association and would personally avoid them too.

It was another tough week and I didn't get enough time for a thorough search before this morning. I usually do some queries on common terms/words, and then a manual eye-scan up to 14-15 letters, but I only made it to 10 this week with a quick run to unlucky 13, so I definitely missed Inspections at 11 letters.

But I do have a snow removal service this year, so that will definitely cut down on the number of strokes I have this year shoveling that big beast.

I got nothing - I put a few bids around town on MTL, just to see if I wanted to take part in an auction and naturally MyID won it.

Other than that, I was kind of out this week as nothing really stood out for me.

I got Haptic

That was a great pickup for where you got it. I forgot to lay a feeler bid on that and IPV (I love aged LLLs).

The To Be Released (TBR) .CA Results & Leftovers for November 20:

After seven straight weeks of steadily increasing TBR list numbers, we've now hit three weeks of consistently lower results, this time settling in the high-7K range. The overall list quality wasn't really that much of an improvement from the past few weeks, and there certainly was not a wealth of premium names. Jumping from 78 to 105 was certainly a surprise, but a few of the notable Top 10 picks included the obligatory...

Thanks! I'm quite happy with it.

Is it the norm now for names without bids to be released for registration right after TBR ends? No more 24 hr wait?

Yes, that's the new world, but the timing is slightly different depending on the Registrar releasing it.

I have many topics on the subject, except I don't think it's borderline, I think it is an absolute scam company.

This is only one of my many topics about them:
