Coin toss over and they go to a commercial. The first ad I see is YoutubeTV but no domain mentioned - assumed to be .com?
Domain's are just an address, but it is the only address where you can completely control the message.
The thing about marketing research is that it is not exact science. All researchers agree the earth is round, but not all marketing researchers will agree on the importance of a domain.
Next break
Fast & Furious ----movie.com
Expensify no domain

I will stick to what brought me to domaining. Domain's are just an address, but it is the only address where you can completely control the message. No amount of research will change that.
Our world, my message, my domain.
Understood. Although, by not showing a domain, the only thing "engrained" is the use of Google.I, myself would like the url to be used but it's most likely what's already been mentioned by multiple people in this thread. People already know it's the .com, the link I just posted about keeping the attention, probably some other things. It wasn't just 1 company doing this, it seemed like most. There has to be a reason for it. It would be interesting to take a look at some of the internal research on it.
It's also interesting to take a look at the evolution of the ads in just a short time. In regards to use of social media, presentation of the url.
With social media, just a few years ago it seemed like everybody was pushing their social media, FB, Twitter, etc. I always thought that was a bad idea simply because companies go out of business, fall out of favor, have other issues. Just look at the hammering FB is taking for data/privacy issues. Take them to your site, link to social media from there.
Presentation of the url. If you look at the beginning of the internet, it goes something like:
http://www.something.com
www.something.com
something.com or no url - where we're at today.
I don't think this has anything to do with the importance of the url, I take an alternate view on that. It just shows how ingrained, how strong it is with the pubic. People already know.
Of course the main problem with the SuperBowl was not the ads, or even lack of domain mention, but who won the game .

That's why I originally mentioned the winner is Google.
I imagine that's something they considered. If I type hyundai, I can choose the best option that suits me. Be it the main site or a local site. The search for stuff is negligible. In Bing/Yahoo, you don't even see the other ones.
They're marketing their own brand. So where ever you go to look, they'll come up first. ..
A smart competitor would have purchased the top ad spot and save a lot of money.
My wife was watching the recording of the game just for the ads tonight, and I noticed that at the end of the Kia add it gave the web address TheGreatUnknown.org. When I go there it is simply a site with links for songs/lyrics. Am I missing something? Or is it like a credit? Not even a secure page. With so few domains listed, seems unusual.
