Continuing in our series of articles profiling great domains in the portfolios of leading investors and established companies, we are taking a look at six of the best names owned by domain investor @Braden Pollock's company, Legal Brand Domains LLC. According to DomainIQ, Braden's company is listed as owning around five thousand names, with many of those unsurprisingly based around legal branding.
However, there is a superb collection of highly valuable domains and below, thanks to DomainIQ's "related domains" toolkit, we are able to pick our top six names from the portfolio.
Pineapple.com
Fruit names are always in demand thanks to their ability to create memorable brands. Apple, BlackBerry and more recently Lime are three examples of companies building around fruit names. Registered in 1995 and listed at Afternic for $1.2 million, Pineapple.com is one of the best names in this portfolio.
Left.com
Acquired in 2015 from Left Field Productions of California, this name is an excellent example of a short, one-word .COM domain with versatile branding potential. "Left", "Lefty", "Left Hand" and "Left Lane" are all common words and phrases put in use by companies across the world. This four-letter word would command a high sales price if the right offer ever came in.
Thick.com
Another aged, one-word domain from the Legal Brand portfolio is Thick.com. As with Left.com, this name was acquired in 2015. According to NameBio, the domain was sold at Sedo in 2011 for just $10,000, although it is unclear how much Braden's company paid for the domain four years later.
Beard.com
At the moment, beard and shaving products are a popular market, with several companies thriving thanks to the renewed popularity of beards. According to DomainSherpa, Beard.com was once owned by Luke Webster but is now in the possession of Braden's company. The domain is developed.
RNR.com
This domain is valuable for a couple of reasons. Aside from being a great three-letter name with a desirable ABA pattern, the term "RNR" could be used for "Rest and Relaxation" or "Rock n Roll". Based on NameBio's history, the domain has sold twice. In 2010, RNR.com sold for $24,712 at Sedo and then in 2015 for $32,500. Braden's company first appears on the WHOIS listing in 2015.
8.org
Typically, these lists contain purely .COM domains, but this name had to be included. This 8.org name is single-number .ORG domain containing the most desirable number for Chinese investors. Aside from this name, the portfolio also contains several single-letter .ORG names including B.org, T.org and Z.org.
