had mine removed (with 1 hour until start time) because they weren't sure about how to transfer, even though i've already transferred domains and there are no restrictions.

Yes, this auction is disappointment, mainly because of how Sedo handled it.

The thing that puts me off as a buyer is that country code sales are expensive through sedo. It can add a few hundred to the costs. The other unknown as renewal costs on some of the domains? Admittedly there is the option to logon and ask a question, although tend to expect a generic non helpful answer.

Well mine (inju.red), I recently renewed at Dynadot for $20.99 (CAD). Now I can easily pay around that for a renewal at godaddy on a .com as recently missed hurrying around looking for coupons or moving it elsewhere in time for cheaper! In any case on mine you don't have to worry about renewing for another year!

Aren't the costs of selling a cctld the sellers responsibility? Buyers are only required to pay the bid price, no? :s

And you you can most likely transfer domains to the place you find the cheapest, as I imagine transfers are done via auth code. Registry premiums are obv. a different story...

Yes you are correct, I had it around the wrong way. No good for seller if a name sells for $99 and the fees go beyond the sale price. I also do not trust some extensions EG .ng

TBH, for domain hacks, no venue would be perfect. Domain hacks require end-user acceptability and a series of negotiation. I never sold any domain hacks through marketplaces. Outbound marketing is the key to successful sales. Not disappointed with Sedo, because guessed the outcome of this auction already.

Myself, I've never owned a domain hack before as was just part of a package of domains I got on auction so just figuring out the best way to sell it. When saw Sedo's domain hacks auction coming up, thought it was a perfect opportunity to get it out there and was glad they accepted it as took it as they saw some worth in it. Prior to the start of the auction, I sent an email to a law firm that owned the keyword in the .com extension which was redirecting to their main site. Gave them a link to the listing in case they were interested (my extent of outbound!). But since I don't even know who the bidder is and never had a domain in one of sedo's special event auctions, I'm unsure if anything will result from it since not much action going on with the listings in this auction (majority have no bids at all) I mean, if it doesn't hit reserve are you able to negotiate with the bidders? But how can you if you don't even know who they are. Something seems to be missing here.

Previously I had three top domain listings, out of which one had bids up to half of its reserve. Since they didn't hit the reserve, none of them got sold during the auction, but the Sedo brokerage team has extended their support by negotiating with the buyer to close the sale of that name for a slightly higher price from the highest bid received. This happened a week after the auction end date.

I added a bunch of .al domains which are domain hacks in Turkish (.al is a nice hack for the turkish language; I believe Sedo accepted only English Domain Hacks, although their listing included other languages).

Overall, nice initiative, but very bad organization...

Did names need a certain of reg to be accepted I wonder?

It surprises me that for some reason Sedo and other auction venues still do not seem to have a really active marketing department for their auctions. Imagine if there was a team of marketers working away constantly building connections with big business entities, contacts with advertising agencies, etc.. A company who did this would undoubtedly soon reap the rewards as they would be able to join sellers and buyers together in a meaningful way.

Where and when I wonder will the next auction venue for hacked domains be at?

It seems like SEDO is a lazy business right now. They do not need to do any "marketing" as the market flows itself.

Watching a few of the items and have a bid on one at the moment, though I am now the under bidder on it.

As has been expressed before on this thread by others I too do not trust some extensions, their governments, etc. to invest in, but it seems others do as they have bids on them.

Well that sure was an exciting auction...the last 5 minutes of it that is. Since the first day was the one bid only, under my reserve. But then in the last 5 minutes that one bidder came back and bid up to hit exactly the reserve price. Very smart on his part to get it for not a penny more than had to!

Which was your domain, if I may ask?

The one I was after I ended up the highest bidder but unfortunately still under the reserve. We will see what happens from here, I dropped the seller a message this morning in case this ended up being the situation.

Cru.sh ended up the highest sale at $2,050.

I can see that being used by an accident company (insurance / lawyers / assessors / etc.).

Yes it is a good one for them and someone jumped on it. And he already paid in sedo's escrow account, so appears is going to be a fast transaction.

It's unfortunate though that only a third of the listings were bid on even though there were some good ones. Sedo maybe needed to have promoted it better. I guess a learning experience for all.
