It's quite hilarious to see people pushing domains for lower than reg fee.. sheer waste of time, money and energy...Maybe it's better to play this crap shoot as all or nothing game.
love this guy, what a gHi Anjani,
You're not alone. We all buy domain names that we think are good for one reason or another and sometimes later find out that they have little or no value -- but we're not sure why. I'm going through and dropping domain names like this that I purchased years ago.
And it can be frustrating knowing when to trust an automated valuation tool, when it's valuation is high or low, and -- more importantly -- which underlying data might be off leading to the high or low valuation.
Your question seems simple enough, but it's answer is complex to explain. So I put together a video that shows you exactly why, including which tools I use when evaluating this type of domain name.
I hope it's helpful to you. I wish you the best going forward with your investing.
Best,
Michael
I have learned so much from your videos (on Youtube), this one included. Thank you very much!Hi Anjani,

It's sorta like the lottery. You hear about the winner but not the millions of losers. The vast majority of domainers will lose money or break even.
I love optimists but the hard fact is some things just don't add up..for example i was looking up at this island name skye and see the estibot value at 300k and see the owner holding it since 2001, don't see a real world value at that price..wonder what the reseller price would be for this domain? this would still fall in the quality domain category and he would surely be in plus at any point in time but i just hope most of us are not living in denial ..i believe the vesting period should be no more than 12 months max
What beats me is that estibot values settlementadvanceloans.com at $1600 and most importantly Advertisers pay up to $45 per click to advertise under settlement advance loans but still i don't see people lapping it up..what am i missing?
Request someone to explain me the missing link...

I have a name portfolio which fits to my renewal budget. This is giving me the holding power, the ability to reject offers or counter them. I see domaining as a marathon. This is my philosophy now. The secret is to trust the right names in a long run. Imo...
Good renewal cost management plus patience can bring nice results. I say again, giving the pressure to possible buyer is key factor of the final price. I do my hobbies i am concentrated to my main job and calm.I agree it's more like a marathon than a sprint. The problem sometimes is that not everyone is built to wait: both to learn and to sell. Even the big sales we hear of today took time to get there in some cases.
Michael...I'm Bulloney from Va. Beach, and I met you online about 6 months ago via an interview you had with Rob Monster of Epic.I'm guessing you may have heard of me by now because of the controversy I raise concerning the domain industry. The short video here only confirms much of what I've learned about "your" industry...before I go any further, I sent you a Linkedin invite when I met you, but you never responded That said, it was after your interview I also sent an invite to Rob, and since we've become online friends of sorts, even though I regretfully put him in an embarrassing situation, I now use Epik for registering the majority of my domains. Back on topic...the appraisal piece of the Domain industry is a real JOKE as I learned early in this game...I needn't give examples Michael, you know what I mean That said however, I'll be using them to show end users the possible value of a domain I may be selling. I'll preface my pitch with comments about appraisals being screwed up in the business, but I believe it will only add credibility, especially when I use GD appraisals as part of my pitch. End users have never heard of Estibot and any mention of their name would only confuse an end user.Hi Anjani,

Anjani...I'm a rookie like you, but being involved in the "loan" industry (I was a baby bill collector, because my grandfather owned a very respectable collection agency) for almost 70 years, I don't see value in any of the names you posted? Never heard of a Holy Loan?...Holy Sh*t yea, an EMLoan? Loan Que? or the rest. Maybe there's something new going on in the loan industry that I never heard of, but how in the world did you come up with these names? Seriously, I'm curious.Get what Micheal Says: i have some winners i guess like:
1 Holy Loans.com
2 BQLoan.com
3 EMLoan.com
4 LoanAC.com
5LoanDM.com
6 Loanni.com
7 Loan Que.com
Will post the sales report soon
If only you took the trouble of searching holy loans...there are many Holy union's who provide student loans and personal loans, Loan DM is ( Loan Direct Message) and Loan AC is Loan Account...there are many ways you can name a business as long as it conveys the central messageAnjani...I'm a rookie like you, but being involved in the "loan" industry (I was a baby bill collector, because my grandfather owned a very respectable collection agency) for almost 70 years, I don't see value in any of the names you posted? Anjani...I've named over 30 real businesses since starting my first business in 1970. I can assure you that 99% of the people you ask don't know what a "Holy Loan" is, or a LoanDM, or a LoanAC. I wasn't born yesterday, and it's highly unlikely anyone would want to name their business Holy Loan, LoanDM or LoanAC.If only you took the trouble of searching holy loans...there are many Holy union's who provide student loans and personal loans, Loan DM is ( Loan Direct Message) and Loan AC is Loan Account...there are many ways you can name a business as long as it conveys the central message
Yes! I invested $1200 about a month back and can sense that it's gone down the drain..still have about 11 months to go ...let's see if the gamble pays off...will not make the mistake of renewing in the hope of a golden ticket.
Hi
seems you don't have long range goal in mind
in that, you've been under assumption that this is a "buy today and resell tomorrow" game.
faith and confidence, has to last longer than 12 months.
so, buy less names and save some cash for renewals.
imo...

Finally, your video was a result of Anjani's query for the name "SettlementAdvanceLoans.com" Micahel, as an entrepreneur starting and founding businesses serving the finance industry, I'm not sure I've heard of settlement advance loans? Payday Loans...Advance Loans sure, but not Settlement Advance Loans.
Michael, I own Refund.Loans and TaxRefund.Loans along with 50 other .loan(s) domains. Estibot has TaxRefund.Loans appraised at "O"....another JOKE, however it does recognize Refund.Loans as being worth $1,500 (lucky guesstimate). Michael, do you know how huge the tax refund loan industry is? I'm curious.
Michael...we need to talk/meet...ask Rob Monster about me. I think I may be able to add some credible value to your industry. Thanks
