The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Funny, but because I have some past experience in retail asset management, I always thought of VR/AR as a natural complement to the movement away from Brick & Mortar towards online shopping... (Hence my regging of names like FurnitureVR/FashionVr/FlowersVR/SaleVR/Coupon(s)VR/FoodVR, etc...) The one thing I don't understand with this Kickstarter project is that the entrepreneur mistakenly thinks consumers will purchase the VR shopping software... No doubt, if virtual shopping drives sales, the various vendors will quickly be picking up the tab for the app... (Home consumers, of course, will be supplying their own goggles!;))
OH Yes, don't take that the wrong way...
I know the retailers are working on it and it is a 'COMPLIMENT TO' not a 'DRIVING FORCE' of VR.
No different than shopping with a mobile device. But it's going to happen.
But it is virgin waters so many are taking that wait n see who gets it right or learn from who got it wrong.

EDIT: I should say, what surprised me was that a shopping site could exist as a purely VR entity.
Or at least someone thinks so. All retailers will eventually flip to a VR page when seeing a vr connected device just as they do judge screen resolution or see other hardware (phone/pc).

Real Money, Virtual Reality
07/25/2017 05:54 pm ET

For most of us, VR today means donning some heavy face mask contraption and flailing your arms (to the amusement of others) in an immersive reality that only you can see. But you better believe the virtual world is going to become an increasingly compelling place to think about your money — how you spend it, how you save it and how you invest it.

Creating an immersive world where cash is king is still in its nascent stage, but some interesting projects are already being set in motion. The upside? Visualizing complicated worlds, like your bank accounts and investments, is an application perfectly suited to the world of virtual reality where you can play “what if” scenarios and visualize your data. The downside? Putting on your headset and settling in to spend money is a lonely endeavor. And most of the applications haven’t yet been truly creative about what it means for your financial life to enter the virtual world. Here are some of the applications that are appearing.

Shopping Catalogs with a Pinch of Aspiration

Alibaba, the global store where you can buy just about anything, has been bringing virtual reality to its customers in China through an ambitious project called Buy+. Wearing headsets, customers can browse store merchandise in a virtual world simply by looking around. Fix your eyes on a specific item and it springs to life, showing you its details. AliPay VR then lets the user complete a purchase with a few eye movements. Buyer’s remorse could take on a whole new meaning when blinks and stares might make you a product owner.

Interesting article... When I was actively regging VR names a couple years ago I thought about VR helping you to visualize complex financial transactions, and how financial professionals might use VR as a tool...So I grabbed the following:

VR stockbroker /Com
VR stockbrokers
options VR
VR financial advisor
VR financial planner
VR financial planning

(Time will tell if these types of names will have any substantial value... ;))

A better way to look at it....
You can never look back with regret. You made the right decision at the time with the 'information you had'.
You can change the 'information you have' in the future by your actions today.

But the bottom line is.... you made money ! Not to worry. Move forward..

MixedRealityMagic

Disney Researchers Create Mixed-Reality ‘Magic Bench’ for Shared Experiences

You’re sitting down in front of a screen looking at an image of yourself, as if facing a mirror. Then a tiny elephant saunters into the frame, plops down next to you — and proffers you a golden orb.

That’s one of the demos for Disney Research’s Magic Bench, a new spin on mixed-reality that lets multiple users interact with animated characters and other CGI elements together. Unlike typical augmented-reality or VR implementations, the prototype doesn’t use headsets or handheld devices.

“This demonstrates [human-computer interaction] in its simplest form: a person walks up to a computer, and the computer hands the person an object,” the researchers write in their paper describing the Magic Bench.

Just checked out that loon Robert Scoble’s Facebook and saw this:-

Can’t believe some people take what he says as gospel. Seems to have shut up about Mixed Reality now anyway, scrolling through his posts in the last week it's all about Augmented Reality/Apple and ARKit.

Very much agree.
Their big push is AR but I still believe the will have a VR offering though a 3rd party like Valve/HTC or perhaps someone else.
Time will tell but Scoble is all hype.
Hey... It Sells. That is what he is in the biz of !
Sooner every domain'r and investor realizes that, the better off they will be.
Someone tells you what you want to hear, chances are you will be back for more.
Just how politics works now-a-days.
