The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. For a guy who is supposed to be in semi-retirement Rick Schwartz is generating some incredible domain sales including two blockbuster totaling over $2 million that lead this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Schwartz had purchased one of those, that went for over $1.3 million in the year’s second biggest sale to date, for just $920 back in 1997! He now had millions of reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving. The ccTLDs also had a very good week claiming 8 places on the Big Board, including three of the top five sales. The highest of those was one of the year’s top five country code sales. You can get all of the details here: http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2016/20161130.htm

Just wondering, is dnaacess.com @ $2239 a typo?

Let me just throw this out into the universe. Whoever bought XXXVideos.com for almost 1.4 million, I have XRatedFilms . com, you can have for less. Not as good as that, since videos are more online, I get that.

Schwartz said 1997 was the year "the light bulb went off" for him, sending him off on a buying spree in which he acquired what proved to be some of his best names.

In 1997 I was 16/17, listening to Wu-Tang and AIMlessly surfing AOL chat rooms.

Crazy sales. Always impressive from someone who planted these seeds 20 years ago. Congratulations Rick.

That's one of the shortest of lists I can remember.
It looks like RS might have outsold everyone else combined.

Awesome sales!

But retirement is a stretch?
It's hard to retire when you snapped up some of the best domain names from the 90's. Buyers are always going to be coming. And I'm sure he has other business ventures.

Much of the value has to do with the traffic, which you can garner from the $150K he stated he made in ppc I would assume.

I was shocked too to hear the sales. But rhe buyer is using it to redirect to his longer name. He would not buy your domain if it's for redirect purpose. You would assume his current site is already making tons of money to put up that amount to buy a shorter version name.

Looks like almost all the big sales this week were at sedo, why is that?

Because a lot of sales are not reported anymore.
Godaddy/Afternic doesn't report their weekly sales like they use to before Godaddy went public.

You still see Godaddy's expired auctions reported daily but not other sales.
Who knows what huge sales Godaddy/Afternic has had in the past couple of years.

Why do you think GD doesn't report some of their sales at Afternic?

That makes a lot more sense.
When you say traffi, you mean type-in traffic, right? I wonder how much Rick made for what period of time.

It it's truly type-in traffic, I'd be amazed how people just type in that name into the browser.

And I have XXXVideoz.com , much cheaper than $1.36M :)
Videoz is not much different from Videos but what a stupendous sale. I guess Rick derives his strength from his reputation of not selling names cheaply.

You are right. Rick isn't selling any of his names for cheap.
