Of course on any naming panel their are those that block great names, but in the end most of the panel will go with the names that sound good, connect and connotate the true essence of the brand message. Career/Nerd does all of these things. BrandBucket is only showing itself as not understanding the depths of naming.

They stick to a popular keyword list, just check their portfolio...all the same drab again and again. Some really worthless names. The giants in the naming world tend to show some BB names as what not to do, I really think BB should re-evaluate. But they won't, as long as they profit they could not care less for the sellers and the startups that buy their names that do not even use them because they are plain awful.

SchoolNerd can be any of a hundred possible uses. CareerNerd can only be one. You can give me the sales pitch but CareerNerd got rejected because it's not that great of a name.

My one observation, could be wrong though, but anyway the observation is they have become quite strict at accepting 2 word domains, these days.

Even if "Career" "can only be one", it represents a very large industry with tens of thousands of companies and subareas, from career consulting to recruitment, from HR to education and training.

CareerNerd is a great name and is more positive than SchoolNerd. And SchoolNerd would have much more limited application actually.

I agree it represents a very large industry but I see it as a Career/Jobs website only and this is why I said it has one application. SchoolNerd is a real thing/person that can be a name for a clothing brand, backpacks, school supplies, tutoring, and the list goes on. Nerd isn't the most positive word and people would rather associate themselves with Geek than Nerd. Geek is used twice as much as Nerd in naming.

CareerNerd and SchoolNerd are not even in the same category in terms of their application so not sure why they are being compared against each other anyway.

I think BB shouldn't be the standard of what's good and what's not anyway. I've had $xxxx,$xxx and $xx sales of BB rejected domains.

Some people will see CareerNerd as being a good name too, even though the correlation between the two words aren't necessarily as strong. But, TripNerd recently sold on BB, so hey. CareerNerd could have been rejected by BB for other reasons. Namely, most of their career names aren't paired with words like 'nerd'

Again, although I do my best to stay balanced about BB, I must say that I do not like the fact that some are able to list any two-word brandable name they want on the marketplace, while the rest of us seem 'blocked out'. And we know that keyword-keyword domains are the best selling in the keyword domains category.

I don't think that's fair. And I think it's important to attempt to run a fair marketplace although life's not fair.

Totally agree about the fairness point too. It is not fair, and we are the paying customers who invest in the platform. But BB will not change, they have not listened to anyone's concerns on here for over a year about the unbalanced sales of the MD.

He sells 16+ a month, others with even 1/3 as many names sell 2 or 3...not even close in ratio.

And @hookbox sorry for coming across a bit impatient, had a bad few days and letting out steam. Appreciate your views and comments.

As far as I know, the only other seller that is around 1/3 of Michael's portfolio is Boxador, the owner of BB. Other than them, all the next biggest sellers are down more like 1/6 (~1,000) of Michael's pf in which case 3 sales a month is analogous to 18 sales a month for Michael.

I think his sales rate is a bit better than the site overall, but there are individual sellers with portfolios in the hundreds of names with higher rates than his.

I believe ambassadors can pretty much list nearly anything they want. Easy to see this too when you see what names they get through quickly compared to us suckers.

Just don't do what I do and then look at some of the cr*p that got through...will only make you mad! As you can probably tell I have been letting off loads of steam over the last few days. I will chill out soon!

I like Cortex labs. But lets play some scenarios here.

Doing quick search about Cortex shows the following :

Now , we can argue both are limited but I can see something names Zinnia Labs more than Cortex Labs.

But you know as well as I do if it was my name it would have been rejected.

When I have a positive thing to say about BB believe me I will shout it out loud and clear on here. Until then my friends....time will tell.

First no one would spell Zinnia with two N's. Second no one would ever know what Zinnia stands for. Cortex can be used for a science related company, brain games, kids brand etc....and I'm sure I can think of at least 10 other things that it would be good for. Everyone knows exactly what Cortex means when it's said but no one knows what the hell a Zinnia is. CortexLabs by far and with no question is the better name. ZinniaLab would have never ever been accepted if it wasn't owned by Krell.

Both CortexLab and CortexLabs are registered. Why anyone would spend $1,795 on ZinniaLab when they can register ZinniaLabs for 9 bucks is beyond me.

Great Lab and Labs names are always both registered if the name is actually any good.

Just a general question, Are most of the BB's buyers from the US or English speaking country? I can easily this name being sold to any South/Middle Eastern Company. The usage of flower related names are very common in ME.
