A UDRP has been filed to gain control of the 3 letter domain name Zic.com.
The URDP was filed by the company SK Lubricants Americas, a subsidiary of SK Innovations on September 2, 2015.

The domain name Zic.com was acquired in February 2015 for $18,400 USD.

$18,400 - Cost of a URDP = Great deal if they win.

You just know they were waiting for an ownership change.

Sold on Heritage Auctions.

You're right. The new owner unfortunately had parking on the site which showed paid advertisements for the Zic brand. I don't follow the URDP's but probably going to be tuff to argue this one.

A lesson for everyone to evaluate any premium names you might have parked. Probably best to have a landing page on them and nothing else. Seems like 3-letter .coms are ripe for UDRP's.

The timing is also interesting.
When a domain changes ownership, it is treated like a new registration for UDRP purposes. In other words, the previous history becomes less relevant. Parking with infringing ads is a classic mistake.

"SK Innovation said Thursday it has scrapped a plan to list its lubricant-making affiliate because its financial health has improved.

The nation's biggest oil refiner had pushed forward with an initial public offering (IPO) of SK Lubricants to bring it out of financial troubles with new investment."

It is not clear to the Panel whether the above email was formulated with the benefit of legal advice but it does not matter – the statement that an offer to sell a domain name which corresponds to a trademark is itself evidence of bad faith is simply wrong.

While that is obviously true in this case, I wouldn't bet my domain on it.
Accidental TM's aside, be careful who you offer to sell to.

Peace,
Cyberian
