status-resolved Usernames, Ignore Lists

Interesting.
Never thought of that, being ignored and threads.
yes, would be nice to know who is ignoring me.
That ali zandi guy probably has me on ignore also, since he goes from a dummy about domains to all of a sudden an expert...

If we change the user name for someone, it shows on their profile under a "Previous Names" tab. If someone uses our Store add-on to change their user name, it doesn't show there yet. We are working on integrating the two systems so they both show there.

I thought I deleted that...lol

I was defaultuser. I think he added me to ignore (I can't confirm as I don't have access)
I was Grace Delete. These he could see because he responded.
I went back to defaultuser. Now he can't see me again.

It seems ignore lists don't get updated with name changes. It doesn't bother me because I don't ignore anyone.... but it would bug Ali if he maintains a large list and we change names on him just to annoy him.

He may have added me after I went to defaultuser but I don't think I did anything recently that would warrant being ignored. I think he has a very sensitive personality and doesn't like anyone teasing him. As exclusive, former 100% broker extraordinaire, for Flippa I assumed he would have thick skin but that might not be the case. Maybe he doesn't want the distraction of us from his working battle towards NamePros dominance against the master Dragon Dancing Azwanasban,

{btw - everything ^ was just kidding because he can't see it anyway... I'm sure he's a perfectly nice}

It would be nice to know what ignore lists I'm on so that I can ignore those threads.
I also think there may be a bug. Apparently Ali Zandry? Flippa broker extraordinaire has me on ignore and can't read my posts so there's not point me doing anything with his posts anymore.

okay here my question..let's say @defaultuser is on someone's ignore list but I am not...will using his (default user) quote in my response, be seen?

Personally, since this is basically a business related forum, me putting someone on a "ignore" might cost me a sale..

That will be seen. That's how I found out I was on his ignore list. Don't be quoting me too much though..

Do you know something I don't or is this just a general reference to be nice? I generally do treat people with respect for the most part but have stepped over the line on occasion (and usually apologized). I can't speak for why people use ignore - could be petty, could be just they don't want to hear what someone says.. could be anything. Mine isn't to try and figure out why but to know if I could find out who is ignoring me so I don't bother posting to them. I guess after a few iterations of not getting a response it might be obvious... but at the same time, I'll just steer clear of their threads completely because I respect their right to not be bothered by me even if it's one of the occasions I actually try and be useful.

General reference? To me, a rock star can also be called a guru, false prophet, "johnny come lately" , " blowhard" or a person that adds no value to my life..just a matter of semantics! For me using "domain investors" (fulltime, successful, experienced etc) versus a "domain tinkler" (part time, hobbyist, inexperienced etc) would be more relatable
Of course just my opinion and I am assuming your posting isn't a passive-aggressive kind of insult.

Read through some of it.. To me, all this Flippa talk reminds me of all the previous Bodis talk, which reminds me of all the previous (another Flavor of the week)....

Getting back on topic... still haven't found a reason to ignore someone yet, came close to @iowadawg (before he moved to iowa and started posting about his wife cooking and we have experice with a T1D,) ...and if I had, this ole Canadian wouldn't have expereinced some great PM, proud American versus proud Canadian banter...etc

Yes I am afraid he will end up posting on his own threads as I think he is being a blocking-machine!

Personally I never put anyone on the ignore list and I find there is a direct correlation between how many people someone ignores and level of tolerance and open mindedness that someone has.
More people on the list equals a more closed mind. IMO

I did get an answer on the first question regarding changes to usernames - which I asked because I've twice tried to recall who someone was from their new name without being able to see their old name. If it's mod changed it's there. If it's through the store it's not.

The second question might just be a yes/no. Is there a way to see if I'm being ignored by someone? This isn't that big a deal but I thought it would be nice to know.....i.e. if in the post it said <this person is ignoring you> /

My hope is that I'm on about 1 ignore list and thus the priority on this would be low low low.. but you never know, there might be a very simple plugin available

I don't think we have anything like that at the moment, but I could look into whether there's an easy solution. I moved your post to the other thread because it was mostly about that matter.

I edited that post in the other thread because I was totally confused! I couldn't understand why I was talking about this thread there. I thought I'd lost my mind! Don't work too hard on this - I'm sure there's a better use of time. I think very few people use the "ignore" and we may know but there are the odd ones I don't know about. If you ever pop into the Political thread there are ignore threats every 5 posts

The warning/dont do this again banner on posts is a good thing though.

I think it's probably best to give people the option to place ignores privately.

This feature has been added to members' profile pages under the "Previous Usernames" tab: Example.

Also, you can search for members using their old username on this page and they will show up now.
