Sedo is GmbH and I don't find them to be particularly responsive and seems to slow down on weekends (not positive about that) so I'm thinking of switching to AfterNic.

Any good parking places that help get domains sold?

A sale on Afternic is but an optical illusion.

last time I have checked the Afternic sales were rather on the lower end

I've had at least 10 sales from SEDO since 2010... I've never even had an offer on Afternic, dating back to maybe 2006.

I've had numerous sales through Sedo.

Whereas I haven't used Afternic for a long time, in fact I think at one point I had to pay a membership fee.

Afternic copied SedoMLS, in that they now have AfternicDLS so who knows - it's possible their network can give you more exposure now.

It all depends on who's in the respective networks, and where you think the end users will be searching.

Did you take any actions to promote your domains, or did people just find your domain names through Sedo's mechanisms alone?

Hi

approaching as a business...i don't work much on the weekends or holidays, so i don't expect others to be working either.

during weekdays, sedo's customer service answers the phone whenever i call.

I don't email end-users or pay for featured listings at Sedo - So any Sedo sales I've had have likely come as a result of the buyer going to the parked domain itself.

To be honest, I doubt many people just go through browsing Sedo's directory on their own looking for names.

I sell far more domains at SEDO and Godaddy (premium listings for .COM/.Net and Godaddy auctions for .TV) and via direct Whois contact than at Afternic.

I've sold domains on both platforms but I've found over the past year or so that Afternic has really picked up steam. The trick is you need to have your domains entered into their premium promotion level. This means they need to have a fixed buy now price, and they need to be registered at one of the participating Afternic DLS registrars. My domains now show up on GODaddy, Enom, Tucows, Register.com, Name.com, Netsol, Namecheap, and a bunch of others, it's really cool and it works. Not for everyone as I know guys who won't set fixed prices but for me this works great. If your domains aren't with a participating registrar you should move them, it's worth it.

With fixed pricing, just remember to carefully keep track of your domains and remove any one you let expire or sell by other means.

There is a recent thread here from a member who let a domain expire, but it got purchased as a fixed-price domain, and he is being asked to pay the commission to Sedo anyways.

I've personally sold more through Sedo, however, that was really the only platform I had focused on. Now that I've added and optimized my portfolio on Afternic, we'll see what happens.

The Sedo GreatDomains auctions have always intrigued me as well. I have a domain listed in there for this coming auction, so I'm looking forward to see how that goes, as far as activity in general.

Please let us know how you do on afternic av1 since sedo as I said before seem to be very arrogant and half f the time I have no idea how they accept such horrible names for their auctions.

SEDO seems to move more domains. I have had a few sales on SEDO (Not too high). All I have got from Afternic is an interested party that asked what my lowest price was on a domain, which did not end on a sale and a $XXX sale to BuyDomains.

Can you please past url of that thread, I cant find it, sorry. Happened to me also, yesterday. Got fixed price offer, but domain expired couple of days ago, sigh.

ontopic, in the last 6 years, I sold like more then 30 or 40 domains through sedo, and none through afternic. But, for the last two or three years, I have only 5 or 6 domains listed with afternic, I just didnt bother to list my entire portfolio with afternic, due to low sell results. Maybe new afternicDLS deserves a tryout.
