I am currently developing my newest project. I am wondering what you would suggest to bring more people to the table.

A) Should I have open membership?

B) Should I close it off for every 75 people so that we are able to focus accordingly on the people at hand and then have a waiting list so that once someone is satisfied or decides to leave the nest that they are able to have the next slot which then enables that it's more exclusive and more needed?

Thanks for the feedback in advance!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I would definitely choose A - Open Membersip.

Domains and websites are valued by the traffic that they bring.

I would NEVER do anything to prohibit anyone visiting and/or signing up at my site/s. IMHO

This is to help people seek out end users. Will traffic really be necessary or is this to a domainer's point of view?

Keep it open people are quick to jump to the next bus and you will need every new fanny that walks by.

It is one thing to have absolute exclusive access that will mean no one will ever bother to join unless you have something really special and to have a special access subforum that certain people if they want to subscribe can join...

Something like only 1 in every 100/1000 people ever join a subscribers section of a forum if that, I am betting Queen or RJ can tell you how many people actually "support" this forum to give a clearer idea.

Do you really want to have to wait until you get 75,000 visitors to have one maybe deciding to register and pay? lol

I don't think the problem will be limiting to 75... it will be to getting 75.

My concern was because I plan to offer exclusive services such as helping you get end users by being the sales rep, etc.

You could do that, and do that transparetly so that others can see how you are helping that specific user, and that may help you in Marketing your Services also.

I just would do whatever it took to get traffic, and try hard to not lose any traffic since traffic is so valuable to us, ya know?

Not knowing the nature of your project, I can make some assumptions:

1) The project will be a new site that will be targeting end-users and will be marketed and advertised as such, e.g. ads in Wall Street Journal, N.Y. Times, venture capital sites, etc.

2) The project will largely be scoped around your own personal time and efforts and contacts that you have.

If it is (1) then clearly the more the merrier, since this allows you to leverage the effort you put into marketing and advertising the site to end-users.

If it is (2) the the gating factor is your own time and your own ability to sell domains via your own personal contacts. In this case, you would have to limit the number of clients and domains you are willing to take on so that you have some amount of success in a given period of time.

If I've learnt anything in the last few years of marketing it's that exclusivity works. If you launch it right you will have people queuing down the block - a point made clear by Product Launch Formula.

Having said that, I'm not convinced that your idea would suit a limited membership run - they are only really good for concepts which have distinct beginnings and ends so you can cycle the launches.

I have noticed in years gone by There are 3 kinds of users online .
1.-Something for free.
2.fence sitters.
3.People with money to burn ,And time on their hands.

#3 is generally for exclusivity . A status thing I.M.O.
#1 More productive and longer lasting.

Okay, Thanks for the feedback! I have actually looked at big time promoting. I went to a firm to help me market it online and offline. Get the site all ready and pretty for everyone to look at. I am thinking this is going to be my big idea for 2011. I am very pumped about it.

I am just trying out different thoughts and concepts to what I am doing.

My next question and I think I should upgrade my membership to a business membership because if I did, doesn't that mean I get the ability to create my own thread for my business and then I could hone everything I would hope to see people be completely honest about in what they might want to see as far as something that would help them bring in more cash flow.

My other question is:

Whats a good number as far as premium services? Where you would get your own personal rep, sales caller, research and due diligence.

Per month
