Imagine a domain transfer where A is the seller, B is the buyer and M is the party in the middle such as an escrow service.
A → M → B
- M asks A to give the authentication key and B to make the payment.
- A gives the authentication key and B makes the payment to M.
- M gives the authentication key to B.
- B initiates and A accepts the transfer.
- B lets M know when the transfer is complete.
- Finally, M pays A the amount.
- A can transfer the domain to a registrant other than B.
- B can claim they didn't receive the domain and ask for a refund from M.
