I'm catching the tail end of this, seems to be some kind of controversy...

https://domaingang.com/domain-news/rob-monster-off-twitter-after-christchurch-massacre-controversy/

Must be something odd to evoke this type of a response from one of our members.

clearly that's how you will never fix the "gun problem"
when you first have to solve all those other problems

Killing is killing, no difference how people get killed (abortion, lack of healthcare, hunger, abuse, addiction, torture, war, or extinction due to environmental problems). Lets stop all killings.

My views might differ from Rob on guns, but you can't just fix the gun issue by itself, you have to address all the other ills and problems that the humanity and the environment has at the same time. IMO

You take away military-grade weapons first then you deal with the other issues. 2A never considered 20th century automatic weapons. You have a mental patient? A ptsd patient? An extreme gamer? Do you prefer they have a knife or an automatic machine gun?

Automatic guns have been outlawed for decades. You should get your facts together prior to debate.

That is a semi-automatic. It is very different from an automatic. You are doing exactly what the media has been doing with the gun subject, changing the dynamics by falsifying information.

This is why the rest of the world thinks the US is nuts on guns. That killing 20 people instead of 100 is acceptable because the gun used was a semi-automatic. Do you realize what the hell you are saying? This reasoning is insane anywhere outside of the 30% or so of the US.

don't you see that that's the sure-fire way to never fix the gun problem?

You were saying that U.S. citizens have military grade automatic weapons. I was just clarifying that your statement was false.

My point was that nefarious people can modify semi-automatic weapons to shoot like automatic weapons or close to.

I am not saying it's okay for everyone to own machine guns, but why focus so much on guns and ignore all the other causes of death. The mass shootings sure make the news and get everyone's attention, but they account for a small percentage of the total number of people killed every year that could have otherwise been prevented.

It amazes me how some people, especially non-Americans, want Americans to stop being Americans. As much as some people want some kind of "new deal", there are plenty of reasonable people who prefer the old deal:

Specific to the right to bear arms, I do view force as a matter of absolute last resort and hope to never take another life.

Regardless, when it comes to living a long and peaceful life, guns are not the problem, and indeed would be largely concentrated in major cities:

This chart omits the ~4 million US abortions annually -- ICYMI, the official numbers are greatly understated.

Although I believe revival is the answer, I will settle for being left alone to raise my family in the manner that I deem appropriate. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I also wondered what the point of this was.

Is this meme too edgy to be called Free Speech?

I am pro 2A, by the way.

How about we do all of the above.

Nefarious people can do all sorts of things. I don't need to remind you of all the mass murder's that didn't involve a gun, do I?

I think people stand a better chance of not dying where a semi automatic or an automatic weapon is NOT involved. All statistics show this to be true.

I am not sure about what statistics you are referring to. Please share.

9-11 was one mass murder that didn't involve a gun.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were mass murders that did not involve a gun either. But that’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about mass shootings. I own MassShootings.org. Maybe I will develop it so I don’t have to answer these silly questions.

If your going to develop it, make sure you get your facts straight. You showed you didn't have them together in your post about "military grade automatic weapons."

Do you believe in DUI checkpoints? It catches some drunks, people who shouldn't be driving. Does it eliminate drunk driving? No. Should be stop it because of that? Or course not.

And the stuff from who you guys want to call the left, is basic, common sense stuff the majority of Americans agree with, even Republicans.

Maybe raising the age to get a gun. In Florida before that school shooting, you had to be 21 to get a handgun, 18 to get an AR-15, does that make sense? No, it didn't.

Universal background checks. The majority of Americans, Republicans as well support that.

How about the Federal Assault Weapons ban that expired in 2004, start that up again. Most people support that. It was in effect from 1994-2004. People could still buy guns for protection, sport, hunt etc during that time.

That one killer mentioned in the article had a 100 round drum. Do you really need that?

The things being suggested, are supported by most people.

And this nonsense with video games and mental health. This nonsense has been gone over to death. Other countries have violent video games, some even more violent. Mental health issues, anybody can have those.

We're the country that has these mass shootings. We have more guns than people, easy access.

I watched this show about an American living in Japan, they have to go thru a lot to be able to own a gun. He went thru it, got the gun. They don't have these issues.

I'm curious which ones of the common sense measures mentioned above, would affect anybody here? Probably none.

Why haven't you done it already, you could have saved a few lives with a domain like that.

JB, welcome back. I was expecting you. Do you want it shaken or stirred?

well if you need that to be answered:

because the guns are what they use to kill the people

if they had empty hands
they would eventually kill only 1 or 2
or even none

I will. What do you think the difference in deaths would be using a semi automatic weapon vs fully automatic?

Why haven't you done it already, you could have saved a few lives with a domain like that.

That’s a very hypothetical comment. It makes me feel bad if I could have saved a life and didn’t. But I will develop that domain since mass shootings are almost a weekly occurrence recently. Do you have any suggestions as to content?

I highly doubt that developing that domain
will cure it

so no regrets for not doing it so far

regrets are due for those people
who could have stopped allowing the usage of guns
but didn't
