So you condone having a socialist government??
Did I say that? No, I did not.
For one thing, The rest of the democratic party is NOT enchanted with
“The squad”
Do you pay taxes? Do you have auto insurance? Health insurance?
You’re paying to maintain roads you never drive on, for schools you kids don’t attend, for first responder services you may not need. Your premiums cover payments for other peoples’ accidents and illnesses, and theirs cover yours.
Isnt that “socialism?”
Genuine hard core socialism would be confiscating all your assets - land possessions, etc - and distributing them among the workers.
People (wolves in sheep’s clothing) have been putting that “socialism” label on the entire Democratic Party because they know it will get an extreme emotional negative reaction out of certain people. Like you.
Democrat Myth-busting on some “socialist”:issues:
All the Democrats I know - real everyday working people - WANT to preserve our current form of government. WANT to protect our constitution as it is now. Both were designed to work pretty well by our founders.
Most of them also want to fix the health care travesty in this country. It’s sorely needed - the insane healthcare costs in this country are responsible for part of the homeless problem we spoke about the other day. A lot of working families are one serious illness away from bankruptcy and losing their home. Im not talking about “immigrants” or “welfare” people. I’m talking about folks who work to provide the goods and services we all use. We can do better.
All Dems I personally know are pro 2nd amendment. Guess what? Nobody wants to take your guns! I know quite a few who are gun owners themselves - they hunt, they go to the range.... They just want to have better regulation In place to try to make it harder for the crazies to do what they do.. . It won’t stop all of them, but if it stops one that’s lives saved. (I personally think you should have a few extra hoops to jump through to buy an assault weapon as opposed to let’s say a hunting rifle, but I have no problem with someone owning one in principle.)
Dems I know are split on free college. I personally think there should be free tuitition at state run / community colleges through asssociates or bachelors, but restricted to those who can demonstrate need and a likelihood of success. Good student, clean record. If you can’t meet the requirements, you pay.
And for those who pay, at least restore the tax breaks for paying off student loans. I worked through college to pay part of my tuition (family and scholarships covered the rest) - I couldn’t do that at today’s tuition rates.
