when i entered the domain industry, let me rephrase that, when i came to NamePros, I was dabbling with domain names, I didn't have a clue as to what i was doing, i knew nothing about website development, i really knew nothing period. So what the first thing i wanted to do? Sell domain names, flip names, that seemed like an easy way to make some money. Boy was i wrong, there was nothing easy about it, and i wasn't good at it either, i kept trying to buy and sell domain names, after all, i saw many here doing it and being successful, Then i finally came to the realization that .X. is not a domain flipper-reseller.
So i hung around here trying to find something that i might be able to do, I started hanging out with site developers in the chat room, A couple of us banded together and started developing some names into websites, PHP was just getting really hot as the code, well, i wasn't a good coder either, so i was wondering, am i decent at anything within the industry, it was then that i found my niche within the domain industry, i was good at researching, listing and placement of affiliate marketing.
At this point i had finally found something i could do to at least be a contributor to website development, As time went on, my peeps and i went on our own ventures, they had taught me enough that i could hold my own.
Today, I am not partnered with any other domainers in development ventures or otherwise, I do not sell domain names, I buy them, but very rarely sell them, I contacted companies, a few i have even met with personally, showed them my prior production with my websites, traffic, sales, leads, and ended up hooking up with these companies as a sole proprietor sales representative for them.
My point of all this, if you are failing at one niche in the domain name industry, there are many more to try. find your best niche within the industry and move forward, find your niche, don't stay stagnant , work hard. and most of all, have fun and enjoy domaining.
I don't domain full time, I am not that good at it, But domaining helped fund my own family business, a music instrument store, which is my full-time job, but without domaining, i doubt the the music instrument store would have happened,
