I don't mind jazz but "free style" jazz not my cup of tea...seems that they start off all over the place and near the end, come to a point?

Best theme song ever?

Resolve... :)
Go where you want, when you want, as long as you resolve.
That's Jazz, baby.

Here are a couple of great sax players mostly staying in the groove.

These are 2 tunes that wernt released on the original album but on a reissue CD

On the first three tunes (A side) they switch axes.
Getz on the Bari
Gerry on the Tenor
The great Ray Brown on Bass

Peace,
Kenny

Thanks for sharing the interesting articles and great tunes!

Was tempted to Google why it was called "Take 5", but that would be cheating - why was it called it?
Take 5 is a kinda standard call in the studio, lets take 5 and regroup.
But, not in this case. Here the tune is in 5/4 time, and a little joke by Paul Desmond who wrote the tune.

I posted the al di meola, john McLaughlin, paco de lucia live at the Roxy.
Here are three other outstanding guitarists getting together for a memorable show.

If you go to the actual yt page there are comments from Scott Alderman who was the Road Manager for the tour. Inside stuff, I love it.

Enjoy :)

Peace,
Kenny

I just saw this, at 1:05:36 the man in the blue sport coat is the equally great Joe Pass.

Great stuff - listened to Getz meets Mullihan with my coffee this morning, set me up for the day!

While typing this am listening to the World of Jazz tunes - they can play, great guitar work. Also read the great insights by Scott Alderman

Thanks again!

Been devoting way too much time to other projects over spring/summer...there are a lot of good posts of music since I was here last!!!

Just got an offer to trade a domain for tickets to one of the upcoming concerts of Poets of the Fall...if only I lived in Europe! Hint...The video can be distracting...I just enjoy the music and lyrics...think Bond character.

For Throwback Thursday...played this many times in my 1976 triumph spitfire cruising on the outer banks of North Carolina one particular summer...generally played it once a week for a beautiful young woman that had been there on vacation with her family...just like to go back for one more summer...
