I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

True..need a different mind set/busine$$ plan. I usually reg my ccc for five years at least! Sure not for the "day trader" type of investor

Fooling around with junk LLL.ca domains is just fun and games, but I'm talking laying down $50-$200 (or more) to select them early in the TBR run. That's what's weird.

This trend does seem to come back like a bad penny every few years, but the difference today is that it's happening on the TBR list (at $$$$) rather than someone utilizing a cheap .CA sale at GD or Rebel to mass hoard them all (and then drop them a year later).

And I'm not talking ABC.CA here, but low-end listings similar to ZXY.CA are now going high on the TBR list and at premium prices. I also can't remember how many weeks in a row that 100% of the available LLL domains were selected during the initial TBR run.

Very strange.

TBR yes or expiring domains for .com always seem to attract attention but when you own it you cannot give it away. Just ask @dancarlson about that.

Anyone buying a lot of zxy.ca or wxz.ca or similar will need a lot of luck to get a hit and they may spend a lot of money on junk before they ever get a paycheck.

Exactly, and even then, the paycheck for that low quality of domain is not going to be too big.

That's the kind of stuff you fool around with when a registrar has a 99-cent sale, and you hope you make enough to renew the remainder and get some spending money. When you buy junk for future speculation, the key is to buy in extremely low.

That's a great sale - congratulations!

Which marketplace was it sold through + what was your initial listing price?

godaddy has so many stipulations and restrictions, based on your previous purchases, only one domain at that price, must be a 2 yr reg so $2.99 for the first year and then $19.00 for the second year, or if you ate an egg salad sandwich on Tuesday while wearing a red sweater under a full moon then you are eligible for the discount.

I believe you also need to be drinking lemonade with the egg salad sandwich as well. Although a red and white sweater seems to work OK for the discount. Domaining is so simple!

Good stuff - congratulations, again.

I'm curious to see how the end-user makes use of it!

Agreed - it's a fantastic name for a Spanish Canadian portal.

No idea on specifics, but at least between $50 and $200 for the end user sales, with some of them on the higher-end due to TBR results placement.

The key difference is that these lower-end LLL's went from not selling on the TBR to selling in the Top 20 on the TBR. I would never tell people how to spend their money, but it's still a very disturbing trend and I really hope the buyers have done their research on .CA market trends and previous sales data.

Kinda strange top pick on the TBR list (MyID, naturally):

etatsgenerauxdufeminisme.ca

And MyID is taking over with 8 out of the top 10 selections.

That site was in use so they may have purchased it for the traffic or hopping it was an accidental drop. Or it could even be an acquisition for an end user.

HeHeHe

Lets see them sell that one

Stay incognito, make a second account, bring in as many as you like and then push them to your other account.

Maybe the former owners dropped it by accident and overpaid (assuming) to ensure no one else got it?

I thought the same thing, but as it takes about 2 seconds to update nameservers after winning, a 3rd-party seems to have bought it.

Hi guys. I don't have Canadian presence, so I can't register .ca. I noticed nice domain names dropped today. Feel free to register them.

carcrash.ca
torontovr.ca
- I think this can be easily outbound marketed for $500-$1000. Lots of businesses in this field and many of them have waaay worse .ca names.

If you register and sell big, send me a postcard ;)

Torontovr.com is at uniregistry. It's a waste of a registration.
