I thought I'd start a new break room thread. The great thing about this thread is you can say whatever the heck you want (except adult) and it's ON TOPIC.

All you have to do is post whatever is in your head when you are here. Simple.

Here are some acronyms we like to use:

YPSBT Your Post Sucks Big Time
YPITDB Your post is the dog's bollox
LPOD - Last Post of Day
FPOD - First....
SPOD - Second.
FPOTWN - Funny Post of the Week Nominee

Featured Friends
Johname - he doesn't have a cool nickname except johname. He is a legend. He is our local animation expect.
DU/Grace Delete aka __ aka Rickey (due to propensity to retire).

JBLions - Will teach you about mattress purchasing, beer, and how to remove birds from cages
Briguy Debartolo - More NP$ than everyone

JDAB - He has hot women on his new bed... but he worked hard for them
Rogue - Called Rouge more often than the movie Moulin Rouge
Cyberian - He goes by Cy. He's older than the forum. Likes the lakers and pops in sometimes to offer support and counselling.

SPECIAL SPECIAL GUESTS
Blobfish and girlfriend.

Grace Delete / DefaultUser / WorldsWorstDomainer will personally thank EVERY SINGLE post in this thread UNTIL someone says something about post count and gets too obsessed about reputations and starts gaming the system etc.

^ That has happened so no more ...was fun while it lasted.

Johname will personally LIKE every post in this thread until he doesn't

No racist, sexist, homophobic material that woudnt be acceptable in the 70s please.
We are ok with boobs and we are ok with men with abs (or whatever it is that makes them attractive). Ogling is healthy. Violence, not accepting that it is shallow and non-meaninful judge of people etc. is not. The most important virtue of this thread is respect for all.

Here are some topics that this thread has had:

I AM PERSONALLY UNDECIDED ON SOME POLITICS so things like the below?
I think the crowd should decide.

(We're all mooning Namepros - lol!)

Is that an autofocus or digital thing? I don't remember infinity focusing like that on my film camera lenses - out of habit I started turning it full clockwise, then realized that was "off."

I'm just getting back into this, I used to do a lot of film photography. Recently broke down and got a Nikon D3400 - Merry Christmas to me :) Got the 55-200 cheap as a starter tele, planning to upgrade later. Apparently a lot of people do that. Cheap plastic lens mount, but very good optics, quiet, pretty fast focusing, weighs next to nothing. And all my old 52mm filters fit. So if this isn't just a nostalgic whim, in a few months I'll upgrade and flip it.

Ouch!!! That sucks. And that's a BIG piece of glass - not like dropping a lens cap!
I use autofocus 99.9% of the time these days. These cameras are so accurate that it's a waste doing manual focus except on rare and specific times.

Auto-focusing on the full moon can make the focus go on and off, so I just hold the focus on a distant mountain/object, raise the camera to the moon + shoot.

Photography is a passion, but what I lived off is Video production. I'm now retired, but still do the occasional video job.

A friend of mine just bought himself a new toy: a GoPro Karma Quadcopter with HERO5 Black Drone last month. Yesterday he called me up and invited me to go out to test the machine.

The images are really fabulous and thanks to the Gimbal Stabilizer which compensates for any vibrations or wind the images are super smooth. A joy to watch and to further explore the already beautiful island scenery. It does both video and photos simultaneously.

It has autonomy for 20 minutes and just before the time was up it took control of itself, started giving a warning that the battery was getting weak and automatically returned back. It landed on the exact same spot that it took off from.

We then put on another battery pack and moved to a different location. After about 10 minutes flight the little bugger decided to return to base automatically because it found the weather conditions to be too windy to carry on safely. Now there's a smart little fella!

Absolutely love it. Hope Santa Claus remembers me next Xmas.

Oh the things I could have done 20 years ago if only I had one of these thingies...

Side note, they had some FTC marketing issues - "Firm to Pay FTC $250,000 to Settle Charges That It Used Misleading Online "Consumer" and "Independent" Reviews" - https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/pre...0000-settle-charges-it-used-misleading-online

Oops... poster child for the reason for those FTC regulations.

Think I'll be reading up again. I know either a Canon or Nikon, then figure out which one to get. I know it's all about getting good lenses.

Unless you need something specialized, you don't have to pay a fortune for a decent lens anymore. For the camera body, on the Nikon line the difference between the low end and more expensive ones largely comes down to the ease of using certain advanced features. I've always been a Nikon person, so it was pretty certain I'd end up with another.

Never can get enough of this video...
Sir Nicholas Winton - BBC Programme "That's Life" aired in 1988
Sir Nicholas Winton who organised the rescue and passage to Britain of about 669 mostly Jewish Czechoslovakian children destined for the Nazi death camps before World War II in an operation known as the Czech Kindertransport.
This video is the BBC Programme "That's Life" aired in 1988. The most touching video ever.

Sir Nicholas Winton died on July 1st, 2015 at the ripe old age of 106

Forgot football was on, caught up in work, then checked Twitter, noticed some players trending. Some brutal hits, fear one player might be paralyzed from waist down:

"ugh. just saw the team Dr tell Tomlin Shazier has no feeling in his lower body. fuck."

Wide receiver taking out a linebacker, one with a bad rep. Had to cart him off. Just had a cover story on him today - http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...s-actions-pittsburgh-steelers-anyone-else-nfl

This has to suck, 210 game streak of starting, gets taken out 1 game. Coach, GM gets fired, Eli starting again:

Eli Manning gets QB job back after Ben McAdoo, Jerry Reese fired

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...s-going-back-eli-manning-starting-quarterback

Other NBA news:
Kevin Durant: Three ejections his last 18 games after only two in the first 810 games of his career.

Cousins would crush Durant

Now a cute puppy to wash away the brutality of sport
