Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

its $200 for virtualdiscussions(.com)

I'll keep talking some more.. cause I don't hate that one.

Just take the money my friend. A lot of people post "offers" on here but rarely come back to share the news of a successful closed sale.... just saying.

every situation is unique my friend... as in... of all the people you speak of, no one ever got a $200 offer on virtualdiscussions(.com) ;)

there is no reason to accept a certain offer for certain domain for certain person, just so he can come post a successful sale on here ;)

trust me, I have a ton of domains where $200 would have been acepted. I just do not feel this particular one is in that bunch.

no doubt I'll be reporting many sold and accepted $200 offers in future too though :)

besides, you and me will be first to agree VR is not in its prime now.. nor nearing its end.. not even halfway through it.... au contraire.. its barely starting out ;) gotta remember this when selling our VR domains.. or negotiating prices for that matter :)

your feebdack is always great. cheers.

You know I partly jest :xf.grin: The best position to ever be in as a domainer is to have cash in hand and the flexibility that allows for renewals, upgrading, or just creative play money. There is never a guarantee that one offer will be upped or followed. I'm sure you'll extract the best price for it. I love cash in hand :xf.wink::xf.grin::xf.smile:

there is never a guarantee for anything in domaining :)
this applies to pretty much all oru domains.. but does that mean we shoudl sell all we have at first offer that comes around.. without ever counteroffering? probably not :)

besides, anyone who starts off with $200 offer for a domain, versus the 10 offers per day for $20 on godaddy that I get.. is liklely to be willing to up it by at least couple more 100s. :)

At $200 or any where in that vacinity for that particular name, I would just take it and move on. But that's just me.

That's a general misconception. You have a sizable portfolio with some very good VR names and I'm sure that some higher tier ones haven't even received even a $100 offer. That said, flexibility can be very advantageous. Or just renew and wait for a better offer :) Such is the life :)

yep.. to renew and wait is pretty much the name of the game for most of the vr doaminsers here.. I guess you too :)

hmmm I beg to differ... I think its fairly accurate to say that someone who offers initialy $200 for your domain will give serious consideration to say doubling this amount to make a sale. jmo

cheers

yep! :) its importnat to get some money for our vr renewals for sure.. so sales are always good here and there to cover that.. but because of what you said.. ie..exciting times for VR.. and constantly steadily increasing mainstream penetration.. I personally don;t even think about profits from VR for now... the thought does not even cross my mind as this is a longer term play for me.. and I am happy camper if I can just cover renewal costs each year from my sales!

I am sure many of us here declined thousands of dollars in offers and potential sales.. precisely because of what I said... I don't know for sure, but I imagine you declined offers too..

cheers, tnx again for input! always welcome.

Well, I for one have not turned down thousands of dollars of offers. As a matter fact, I've only been approached with one offer and it was for $50. The offer was a direct offer via email from somebody. I have not done any direct mail outs or callouts. I have 95% of my names listed on Sedo for "make an offer". The others I have at Parking Crew.

I consider 15% of my VR domains to be garbage that I probably should not have ever registered and won't renew ....

45% of my VR's are good names but there are other variables of them, so if I were to be offered $100 or $200 I'm sure I would sell them.

25% I would consider wicked awesome premiums that I should get great money for and will hold out on...for years if necessary.

15% are speculative and could end up turning into a massive sales, or depending on which way the technology goes, could end up being worthless.

So Alcy.... unless I got a "low ball" offer on one of my super premium names I probably wouldn't be haggling a whole lot. I might try one counter offer... but after that I'll probably just be taking the money and running! ;)

yep.. I am sure we all have a plan and strategy.. we're all working with different qualities of VR domains anyway.. depending on when we bought them.. for how much.. or when we regged them.. cause some started earlier than others etc.. regging VR domains wasn't same 10 years ago as 5 years ago as 3 years ago as 3 days ago etc etc.. I am sure you get the picture.. neither was buying VR domains on aftermarkets.. throughout the years.. price wise etc.

so like BD said, its a chnging landscape for VR and thus VR domains. but its definitely getting prettier by the day, as VR slowly but surely penetrates general public and mainstream.

as I said, I'd be happy to get $100-200 for many of my VR domains.. as would many other people here.. cause we all have lower and higher end VR doamins in our folios.. but I just did not think VirtualDiscussions(.com) is one of my worst domains. so I acted accordignly. like we all do with our unique domains. cheers.

Facebook Is Shutting Down VR Content Division Oculus Story Studio

https://uploadvr.com/facebook-shutting-down-oculus-story-studios/

I thought it was going to be a depressing article but it's actually great news!

Facebook is still going to be developing AND investing in virtual reality!

(Quote) " Facebook has pledged to spend at least another $250 million on content development in the coming years and, according to Rubin’s post, $50 million of that will now be devoted to “exclusively fund non-gaming, experiential VR content. This money will go directly to artists to help jumpstart the most innovative and groundbreaking VR ideas.” (end quote)

Me likey! ;)
