Actually ... maybe not such a waste ... there certainly will be presidential nicknames Trump will be given ... if the late night talk-show pundits settle on it being PresidentRump then you're all good!

Personally I have my money on PresidentPumpkin .. lol .. good luck with it! ;)

lol ... just saying it's a possibility .. one of many. There are at least 60 million Americans who voted against him .. judging by most people's reactions I think he's be lucky if the settled on President Rump .. lol

Do you prefer President Pumpkin? lol .. I own the .com .. I'd sell it to you for Flight+Hotel+Admission to NamesCon2017 .. and lunch/dinner at any Vegas buffet that has Pumpkin Pie! ;)

If it has traffic, it's a great typo.

If not, you've wasted $9.

Why do domainers invest in "trump" domains?
Why did people buy Obama domains?
To validate to themselves their choice on whom they voted for or support. They're both more interested in wasting their money on domains that no one will ever want or buy from them, then they are spending their money on domains that will actually sell or be worth investing in. The only ones who feel these types of names are worth buying and renewing in the first place, are the 'happy-to-see-another-sucker-domainer' registrars.

Current bubble, lots of people in the market. If you have something, time to sell is now.

Any domain name based out of person's name is trademarked by default (unless it happens to be your name as well).

In the US, public figures like the President have almost no protection when it comes to political speech.

Yeah .. I'm inclined to think national leaders are more public domain than anything else. As long as you don't make the site pretending to be the person. I own 1 presidential FirstnameLastname.co's and 2 Trump related .com .. I really don't have any intention of pretending to be their official site .. so I doubt I'd have any problems.
More importantly .. I don't think BenjaminFranklin.co has any interest in taking me to court.

Nor do I see PresidentPumpkin.com having enough spare time to go to court .. lol

My last one is TrumpTrivia(dotCom) .. was looking to have some fun with that one more than anything else ..

Finally it comes down to whether you plan to make any profit from the person's name. Even fan clubs or hate clubs with the person's names in them are controversial.

Not for politicians. Anything short of fraud is fair game.

I was thinking along the same lines Ategy. I figure it would be valuable to a group of democrats.

Apparently this domain is getting interest since you guys are discussing it so passionately, my guess is that it is worth something. How much I'm not sure.
