back to the mxr discussion, I did recently find this http://www.mxrsummit.com/ which I noticed wasn't mentioned on the previous page....still way way too early in the game to decide on one abbreviation imo.

And some food for your thoughts from someone that live this space for 8 months now.
You guys know that MxR means M&R right?
So how do you describe MxR while speaking to people? M and R? MR?
And then you go back to write MxR? Im talking consumers now...

Thats the reason you see MR on 99.9% of the time and MxR the rest.

Just my honest opinion guys.

Just to get more perscpective, let's talk about something equally strong VR. As we all know VR is the official keyword for VR.

However, there are 50 startups which I am aware of who are live on VIR based domains & some of these domains been regard over 10 years +.

But even still VIR is no where close to be efficient alternative for VR, it is defiantly strong and I have invested In it myself heavily.

However in comparison VR will remain bigger and stronger.

And exactly the same in case of MR, Mr is and Mr will. A couple of startups are never a good example, it needs to be 50-100 startups to understand the potential

There is enough evidence to show that Microsoft and Magic Leap are going with the abbreviation "MR".
Absolutely. As is most everyone else. As Elad suggested, MxR will probably be used by those who cannot afford to buy the MR on the aftermarket.

The Evolve Media Group couldn't afford 1795USD (or 12 monthly payments of $150) to purchase MRsummit.com?! Damn. I hope we do okay with our MR names.

@fuzzy you are correct, i picked the wrong word for it. It's a new summit, they didnt want to spend money on it so they prefered a regfee like often happens. They do prefer MR and use MR in their site.

Btw, i have premium mxr names i bought a while back just in case so dont have a secret agenda here B-)

mid high xxx offer for keyword+MR

cheers!

I noticed in this thread that often domains like "keyword+MR" are mentioned. For me they make less sense or sound not as "good" as "MR+keyword".

Also I would say that "mixedreality" in a domain name is long, but can be good when the next keyword is not too long. Certainly the abbreviation MR in a domain name will be/is also good.

What do you guys think?

I see it the same way as VR. Will work both ways.

Yes MR in front probably sounds better but I also prefer VR in front.

The thing is MR after the keyword could be seen as making more sense because it totally sets it apart from the mister association :)

Once mixed reality hits mainstream end users will go for either if it is the only way they can secure their desired keyword.

Another thing.

I like the MR better in front of the keyword. But there are qualities for the MR at the end like NamePov told. For branding purposes it can make sense to place the MR at the end and to people with (Mr.) in the mind they can put it at the end to minimalise the confusion / better search result (in their mind).

Also.

A lot of MR+keyword domains are already regged years ago. This makes the possibilities for good quality handregs smaller. But when a enduser buys a MR+keyword and develop this into a big site and you have the keyword+MR you will get a lot of free traffic. This can also be a huge (cashcow) benefit but more down the road.
