Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i said it before .

one cant look at the future with present glasses ;)
Why not? Its not 1959. Future trends can be and are being predicted using predictive analytics. Its all in the data.

how can it be in the data when there is no data?
the data that we have is not relevant yet as we havent reached the critical mass in any tech.
only the beginning :)

all im saying is that nothing happened yet and that the tech is different.
its will be a big big part of our lives so i believe consumers will know the differences .
we must remember that youngsters today are born into a different society .

I've heard many times that AR will be many times bigger than VR. But I never really understood why.

The way I see it the most sophisticated way to deliver AR in the future will be through regular looking glasses, or even some type of contact lenses. That will be a long time from now. People don't want ugly looking tech on their face in public.

But what will be the applications when we get there? Advertising? Personally I would never want commercial messages popping into my view while I'm out walking about.

Secondly It seems like a safety issu to me havin what animated stuff pop up here and there. People are already dying from Pokemon.

I could see some really interesting uses for things like historical tours and stuff, or maybe even all the stuff you have in your phone to be used while sitting down or stationary. But how will you type a message in AR for example? In mid air?

What am I missing here? Can anybody explain WHY AR will be much bigger than VR?

Ar will be easier to use in the real world ....... less set up, both will be huge so it's all good

The tech is already larger than VR by the numbers, but I fail to see a representation of that in names.
One of the largest hurtles is that AR is fragmented and to inclusive in what it takes to be declared that.
More likely that a different name may be used to describe a version that is only stereoscopic and requires a HMD. My thinking was that Holo was going to take-up the majority of that slack but not entirely.
Wrong? possibly, but it will be something else.
I was using ar 3 years ago with QR codes (another tech and keyword dud) in catalog ordering with Ikea and google street view and some other phone apps. They are using it with every bag given away at comin-con this year. The tech has been in front of you and most did not recognize it for what it 'technically is'. Hence the lack of names demand for it. Even Glass had a several years head start with the tech.
The majority of the best uses of it are with Enterprise applications.

Show me the names and I'll show you the money. Is Pok'emon Go createing a names demand for AR yet ?
Even with domain investors ? Where's the rush we would normally see for it.
EDIT: There was a bigger rush for BACKPACKS the same day as a news release.

Watch this play out with this killer app and you probably have your early solid market indicator to answer this perplexing issue. To me, it's already been answered as far as broad deep use.
But I think the final answer will be when the Hololens or something like it hits the consumer market.
Anyway, I've said enough on this.
Just trying to keep it in a proper perspective so we do not mislead ourselves. I hope it all does well.

Well said.
As we speak, the market is defining new terminology about AR & MR after the pokemon craze.

I mean heaven... and as for VRpotato.. well.. .I said times before.. tons of sales done so far, enduser+reseller... tons of publicity and investments, while still being barely newborn tiny babe.. a lot of websites around.. top money paid for domains in past and top money asked for VR domains now.. tons of anciently regged and owned VR domains around... 3 keyword possibility/popularity: VR+virtual+virtualreality...

and some other reasons I said before and canot remmeber cause its 40C+ weather here now.

Very strong argument, stronger then what we heard so far lol.
VR is by far best investment as of now.
As for me, i already paid back my first year regs in VR with a sale and my overall regs in AR with a sale.
In MR&mixed reality refused offers for MR and MixedReality names(one from end user) so its all game, keeping eyes and ears open :)

thats correct. potatos make you strong. there is no stronger than potato.
eat potato a lot.

I'm just messing with your brains.

you got more chance to make money on low quality VR domain than high quality AR domain.
I won't even mention MR. cause it's in a class apart. except it isn't really a class.

thats about the bottom line. to me. and to some others. but not all. and that's alright with mama too. cause its your $dollar$ so you put your dolla where you wanna.

good luck domainer.s.

Well you only have to type VR into Google images and see what comes up, type ‘AR’ in though, probably only around 10% is Augmented Reality.

I think the downside to Augmented Reality and when people play games like Pokémon Go, they just call it ‘a game for their mobile phone’, not Augmented Reality.

When VR gets its killer app, VR itself will take all the spotlight, for all the success of Pokemon Go, other than a few articles, Augmented Reality is getting little credit and that’s because it’s done though devices people already have and that’s my worry for ARkeyword domain names, people may play Augmented Reality games and apps, but the term ‘Augmented Reality’ may get little credit.

Well the way I see it is:

The people who invested in VR Domain's 10 years ago made a smart future trend gamble.

For people to say at this moment in time VR, AR or MR will be the certain winner/loser is nothing but speculation.

VR get's more keyword searches because it is the now technology.

You never know in another 10 years (probably much less) the early adopters of AR or MR might be regarded as the smart one's.

In my view there is nothing wrong with diversifying you're portfolio if you believe in differen't future trends.

I think virtual reality is a winner. But I also think people who invested into AR & MR should not worry too much because there is a very strong possibility the companies working on these tech's will want to set their products apart from VR and will market it hard as the next progression.

Yes I can see VR always being apart of the future. But I do not feel everything will fall under just one umbrella.

Quite right but it does depend on if you are selling hardware or a EXPERIANCE.

Most likely to bump a page number when the mods get done with this.

We all should be happy with where VR has reached till now and more to grow..!

Also, we have to learn to agree and accept that there are more superior (AR / MR) techs / terms gonna arise.

VR AR MR
will be an ecosystem that will change this world in terms of Business and Pleasure! ;)

As of now....

KEEP
CALM
and
Hail VR

Cheers!

Hank, Lucid got a top portfolio and he spent a fair bit getting it.

He deserves credit for using his initiative to spend big to get big.

Going back 10 years or so though those same domains could have all been got for reg fee plus renewals.

Which was kind of my point. If you wait until a product is established sometimes you miss out on the real gems or have to be willing to pay a bit to get them.

Sometimes a little forward belief in a future trend is needed in domaining.
