So you are sure/you assume specifically my names are sub par? And, so are the names of 999 other sellers on BB not named MK, I suppose, given their 2.4% sell through ratio?

Do you seriously think you are helping BB with that line?
I do not think your names are sub par, I don't even know what names you have listed on BB.

You were questioning why some portfolios have a better sales rate than others...

You might have changed IP, but you have not deleted your cookies, I assume? There might have been other targetings that make your profile fit under the criteria.

They could have also chosen to show the ads on google dot com version only excluding country specific google domains.

My friend you are right but I doubt they would exclude UK but only if they wish see a decrease in sales.

BB is a private company-they dont have to give out any information. That said they say they did 2.5 million last year with an avg of $3000 per name MK was quoted recently-they have 28,000 names-do the math and please post how any outsider can make money with BB. Again-they are a private company and dont have to quote any data what so ever.

What data we don't know about? Please tell me.

I'm an outsider.

Almost $17,000 has hit my bank account thanks to BB in the last 12 months (that's with all of the commission and fees removed). $8,000 of that has been "withdrawn" and the remaining $9,000 has been reinvested. I now have over 500 domains with a total value of $1,150,000 on BB.

This does not include my rejects which I've sold off cheaply (mainly here).

Yout just an exception out of the other 1000+ user. Would you mind telling me/us how much you was your total investment and your strategy so we can learn from you and give credits to you.

Search for brandable domain on google or related keywords you should see their ads. But only click once so that you don't waste their money since you wouldn't be buying their domains. Then click on START BRAINSTORMING > or the next. Then perform whois on the names you see 10. They used to be in a row but seems like they chnaged their format. Reload the pages many times and perform whois and take note of how many times krell names appear.

2 out of 10 when I did it there (note that I did not click on an add, just did the "START BRAINSTORMING")

I am not just an exception. There are plenty of us. You lot love to pick on MK in particular because he is so open with his information/portfolio.

Smarter domains. It's that simple.

It's great to buy a brandable for the longer term but there are shorter term opportunities to be had by buying domains that have a double chance of selling... because it's a nice brandable and because there is a company or product with a longer name or different extension already out there.

Congrats on that-and how much net profit after renew fee rejects etc? Also-please correct me if I'm wrong but by MK admission of about $3000 per name on avg you sold about 6 names out of 500 last year? Thank you.

But JimJammy my stats shows that there are not alot of you. There were only about 49 sellers out of maybe 500 (there are lot more) sellers.

Anyway once you get your name on BB do you just let it sit there or you do any kind of outbands too?

Thanks for data. If your portfolio grew gradually and you averaged 300 names (just an assumption) for the past 12 months and you got 17000$ from BB that could probably mean 10-12 sales or 3-4% which is ok. The concern has been that the rate is on the decline. Have you noticed similar or your sale frequency has grown in proportion to your portfolio growth?

I just started few outbands and saw an increase in ROI. But lets leave the question to JimJammy.

I've sold 11 domains. My names are below the average price. My profit is approx $17,000 from BB plus approx $2,000 from selling the rejects cheaply. $8,000 has been withdrawn the rest has been reinvested and I've grown my portfolio from 1 to 500 over 12 months, slow growth at first then bigger growth in 2016.

My sales rate as grown as I've got smarter ;)

JimJammy is now smarter and I must imagine her feeling so happy right now.

Impressions don't get charged, only clicks.

Most search engines are clever enough though to know that 2 or more clicks from the same ip within a time frame are not charged again. It's more complicated than that, but don't worry too much about it.

You are 100% right, I had a slight memory leak. It happens to every one even softwares. I bet someone just checked if memoryleak.com was avaiable I know I can see you.

Do you mean outbound as in contacting potential buyers yourself?
If so, you can of course still do this if your name is listed on BB and send the buyer there to complete transaction. I dont imagine many sellers would go down down this route however as they would be paying 30% + for a logo.
You can have your own site showing just your portfolio of names using the BB widget and the buyer would complete the sale on BB.

So by "smarter" you mean buying names that sell themselves, effectively. Then why do you need BB, if you are spending so much effort making sure end user exists, other extensions are taken etc.? Isn't BB supposed to have advantage in pushing names in the startup community, new businesses, rebrandings?

Cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM) bidding
CPM bidding means that you pay based on the number of impressions (times that your ads are shown) that you receive on the Google Display Network. Starting this year, CPM bidding will be replaced by viewable CPM bidding. Existing CPM bids will eventually be transitioned to vCPM automatically. Find out more about using viewable CPM bids.

  • CPM stands for cost-per-thousand impressions, so you pay for each set of a thousand views of your ad. You set CPM bids to tell Google how much you're willing to pay for that set of impressions.
  • CPM bidding is best suited for advertisers who are focused on brand awareness. For advertisers whose main goal is sales or website traffic, CPC bidding (pay for each click on your ad) might be a better option.
  • You set a maximum CPM (or "max CPM") bid as the highest amount that you're willing to pay for 1,000 views of your ad.

You don't have to bid CPM and from my experience it is a bad idea. It is much better to set per click and that is what most do.
