Can you add no spam to the chat? Sometimes people make a smiley or some other pointless message over and over.

Smileys and silly messages messages is a big part of chat. Lets others know you are there and responding.

This is the part of the postings that made you open this thread. It was just a moment when two people were having fun. Chat back to normal now.

Oh well, what if I do that every single minute for 24 hours a day? where do you draw the line? Is it okay when no one is talking? where do you draw that line? 5 minutes?

PS: I didn't open the thread for this time, i opened it for all the times I see something like that. It is annoying when I am another website and the **new chat message** blinks. If I take the time to go see, I just waste my time.

I think some common sense is needed rather than impossibly complex rules. If this happens for 20 mins, or less probs, then of course it's too much, but a few people briefly posting smileys for a bit of fun? Does it happen every hour? Daily? C'mon

I won't fully support this but I do agree that it can be annoying. It's the same people day in and day out.

You give a screenshot of 2 people participating so it makes it look like they are talking, and make me sound like im ruining fun.

What if they were not playing together? and just typing 1-11 or smiles or whatever childish stuff? This happens too you know.

But does it happen when people are having a serious convo? If so then it's a bit rude/annoying. But if people are just talking about nothing important, or silence for a little time, then does it matter? Frequency also matters, if low then bit of fun, otherwise perhaps annoying etc.

If it's that bad, perhaps you need separate chat rooms. "Whatever goes" - "business only"

You always need rules. "Whatever goes" They're gonna link to porn and malware too? NO SPAM is a common rule for a lot of reasons.

Imagine if everyone was sending the spam..how would chat go then?

I've seen lots of chat rooms get filled with spam and everyone complains or leaves then.

I meant ie "fun" etc, I thought common sense would avoid me having to list things not allowed still, like porn, malware, illegal stuff etc. Site rules still apply. Perhaps I should have said "business only" and "relaxed and a bit more fun than business only"

Well, then something could be done more abruptly I imagine.
