Godaddy domain refund policy

I know that godaddy has a five day grace period for .com domains. if you change your mind about a domain name and want a refund can you just "delete domain" from the my domains panel or do you have to call and manually request a refund?

Thanks in advance.

Email them and tell them you want a refund. They'll send you an email with instructions on how to cancel the domain.

Cancel the domain and send them an email with the details you requested. You should receive your refund in a day or two.

If you delete it then you lose the domain, but don't get a refund.... and what Godaddy does is it throws up its standard "parked page" full of ads for the remainder of your registration term. So, if you are a TM buyer, which I am not, you might still have a domain that was registered to you and possibly indexed by DomainTools as to who was the owner, but GD gets the free PPC ride on your $8 expense..... AND you still might be on the hook for a TM violation. Just letting you know if this happens to be the case.

To get a refund you got to call/email your rep.

Spade..... where are you? Correct me if I am wrong......but I am almost 100% positive there is no other way to get a refund. I'm sure they do not want to make it that easy to get your money back or everyone would be doing it.

If you are a regular buyer you should have a rep. in "Executive Accounts". If you are a casual buyer then they may send you to the regular reps that tend to be somewhat uninformed.

If you buy a lot of domains call the Executive Accounts department and ask for a rep. to be assigned. Here is also a little secret : If you are a volume purchaser there are discounts off of domain auctions and other services. The phone number for the Executive Accounts department is 480-505-8885. My favorite rep. there is Brad Larson - he's fast, educated, and knows his stuff. Ask for him to be assigned and you won't regret it.

I've called up every time, and just said "I canceled this domain, it falls within the 5 day period", and then I'm asked account details, they look it up, find it, and begin processing the refund.

I'd just call, never took me more then 5 minutes. Very quick and easy.

I've always just done it via email: 1) cancel the domain in your control panel, 2) wait for the email from GD, 3) forward that email to [email protected] asking for a refund, 4) wait a day or two, the refund should appear

I've not tried this recently, I'm not sure how the ICANN $0.20 fee has affected their refund policy/behaviour...

Though I am far from a taster, I probably reg 10-20 domains a week and have them refund 4-5. I've even done a few just this week. I go in and delete the domain, then email [email protected] and request a refund.

It must be within 5 days, so email first or call if you are on the fifth day.
