You simply cannot reg RealEstate.ext as far as I am aware they are all taken. That being said, I am leaning towards nonrenewal because the ext is unknown. What would you do if you had this name?

Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
As it being a prime keyword i will consider renewing it. See if you can get a lower price somewhere else than your current registrar for the renewal, and consider transferring SOON if possible , B'cos at the end of subscription ull be facing problems with the transfers

Also it can be abbreviated for some famous cities like virginia, Vizag(in india)

Well..first I would try to sell on forums like NP and see if there is interest at a price point that's profitable but not greedy. If there is no interest then drop the name.

At least that's my opinion. If other professional domainers don't want it at reseller price then it's just not worth renewal.

Thanks for the responses. I have had discussions about this name before, relating to the las vegas market. People are hesitant to value it understandably. My biggest arguement against letting it go, is that we don't know what the future will hold for generic keywords in obscure extensions. Now, $35 renewal per year seems like a small load to carry, but in a decade I will have shelled out $350 on the hopes that it becomes valuable real estate. Of course, we all have that problem don't we? I have seen .la makeing a few decent sales lately. Who knows?

SLU.

the abbreviation for the state of Virginia is VA ... so it probably won't interest any Virginia buyers ... there are , though , some cities (and towns) named Virginia around the world (source:wikipedia) but I don't know whether they would use VG as an abbreviation or not ...

I found a developed site on houses.VG ... and when I was studying in London , I think I saw quite a few of those VG signs around town ... whether they would be interested in RealEstate.VG though , I don't know ... but , if you contact them , make sure that you clarify that you bought RealEstate.VG because as a domainer you considered "RealEstate" as a strong keyword (even in exotic extensions) and not because you were aware of their brand (alternatively it will be considered bad faith) ... if you take this route , proceed with cautiousness ...

I bet you $$ I can find a RealEstate.** available to register.

There is just too many extensions, this keyword isn't "wiped out" yet.

No demand + too much supply = reg fee

Sam is correct. As hard as it may seem to get, it's not like Casino and Poker where the Earth has been scoured a million times to get every last extension.

Honestly... I think its a dud, and at best a long term risky investment. Consider this, you invest 5 years worth of registration $35x5 = $175 now, in 5 Years, with luck, what is your expected sales price? $500? Youve made a profit, but it took 5 years to realize an approximate 250% ROI (forgive my numbers if there wrong, just doing math in my head).

Could you invest the same money, make a better return in a shorter period on .com or say a few of the other gTLD's? The answer is yes.

So... my answer is - DROPADOODLEDOO
