various Top Topics: Is Domaining Worth It?; How Do You Flip Domains?...

Spaceship Spaceship
Welcome to this week's top topics, where there is a distinctive time vs. money theme. A few discussions have arisen this week regarding the time spent on domain name investing and whether that time is worth the money you receive in turn from sales. It's an interesting point to consider, especially if you are a full-time domainer. Does working 18-20 hours per day give a ROI that is suitable for the time spent?

Here is this week's top topics.

Is Domaining Worth It?

The question was posed to the community whether domain investing is worth the time and money that is often put in to buying domain names and domain-related services.

The responses to this question are varied, with some saying that very few people make money from domains, whilst others calculate that with enough domain names in your portfolio to sell, domain name investing can be worth it. What do you think? Add your thoughts to the discussion.

How Many Hours Per Day?

Speaking of time and money, another question that has been raised this week is how many hours per day do you dedicate to domaining?

It's very interesting to see how long investors are spending on domain-related activities every day. Results range from just an hour every day to 18-20 hours per day.

Some investors with full-time jobs can only afford to spend a limited amount of time on their domaining activities, whilst full-time investors need to spend their time buying and selling to make a living.

How Do you Flip Domains?

A new investor is asking for advice on how to flip cheap domain names in the quickest possible time. It's a common question among newer investors who may be looking at domaining as a get rich quick scheme.

The general advice seems to be that the person who asked the question should concentrate on reading blog posts and forum discussions before attempting to acquire any type of domain name.

Do you agree? Have your say in the discussion.

The World's Ten Most Expensive Registration Fees

Chinese Escrow provider DN.com have published another interesting discussion this week. We're used to seeing registration fees ranging from $8 to $30 per year for a number of the most popular TLDs, but which are the most expensive in the world?

The list ranges from Algeria's .DZ extension, priced at a maximum $494, up to another African TLD that costs between $2,500 and $4,000 per year to register. Visit the discussion to find the full list.

I think its like anything else in business 10% of the domainers do 90% of the business ,it comes down to hard work if you put in the time and work smart and make calls things will come your way. It has to.
If I were new to this ,I would not own more than 20 domains and decent ones at that, I would spend more time looking for buyers rather than looking to buy more and more. Every time you buy a domain that you cant sell right away and just shelf it your gonna but that domain 10 more times more by renewing it and chances are you wont even get a chance to market it because your too interested in buying more. Buying good domains are easy ,selling is the hard part.

I agree with you Ben Pedri. Everytime you buy a domain that you can't sell within 1 year you'll spend your money if you don't know how to value this domain name. A good domainer must learn how to value (make valuable) a domain name even if this domain is in the beginning a non sens domain name.

Micky-jay Sorry for the late answer
with a capital below $100 all you have to do at first is to search a keyword domain name by auctionning here at Namepros (you can also look at the bargain domains here) or by visiting eBay (you can have there a good 2 words keyword domain at under $100) or Godaddy etc. A keyword domain name is the key to open all the doors related to the success of the online business category witch the domain name is. You can also do a hand registering if you find the good keyword domain name because nowadays it's not too difficult to find a keyword domain name with the expansion of the new gtlds and the new tlds and DOTcoms have the same consideration (treatment) for google . For example online (.) degree can be more relevant to onlinedegree (.) com . It can be difficult to find the good domain name but it's the easiest part in the process because the remaining to value your domain name is a hard work. trust me, Successful domaining is not a game, you must work hard ! The 2nd part after finding your Domain name is to build a website or to park this domain. You can find a free webhosting without ads and even if you are not a coder, you can setup your website with the hosting build in cms or sotware like wordpress or joomla or prestashop (ecommerce). If you choose to park your domain (the easiest way but too long to value your Domain) add to the keyword settings of your parking all the related keywords of your domain name searched in google or/and yahoo or/and Bing. The 3rd part after setting up your website is to add content (the difficulty level depends on your knowledge). If you're good at writing articles, your domain name will gain value in short time because as long as you add articles the level of your domain is upgrated by search engines. However you can google the following terms: free content adder, add content to my blog or wbsite for free, how to find free content to add in my website etc. You'll see a solution to have related content to your website our blog. The 4st and last part of the process is the advertisement. Sorry to stop here but I'm so tired and I'm sleepy. I will continue this 4st part tomorrow. If you complete the 4 parts of the process within 3 months you can have a good price for Domain name + website.
Have a good night
