Sedo told me that I made $725,000 offer to IRAN.com but I didn't

In this morning, I checked my email and there was an email from sedo informed me that I have made $725,000 to Iran.com and the seller decided to run an auction. But I didn't do that . Is my account hacked or something like that ? I set my password with the combination of letter and number .Maybe it is not secured enough.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Also - Go around to the other forums/sites and make sure you haven't posted a link with your SessionID included ... I checked your posts and threads here at NP and see none. If you right click a link while logged in at Sedo and then copy/paste it to a site - It can include the SessionID , And in the past people could just click the link and be in your account if you haven't logged out.

I'm half tempted to move this to private really until we know the situation , But at the same time if Sedo hasnt closed this gaping hole - People need to know about it.

you might want to change the passwords on other accounts too ... especially if the password on SEDO/DP was the same with the password to them or to your email account (to which , if the scammer has access, there could be a lot of info/account-names/passwords)

you might also want to scan your PC(s) for viruses and/or keyloggers ... if you suspect a keylogger , temporarily type passwords with random letters between correct letters and then click with your mouse in between the letters and delete the bogus letters ... that way your password would be impossible to be tracked by a keylogger since it would not be able to track the positions of your mouse when you delete the letters (even better , use right-mouse-button>>>delete to delete the letters so that the delete button typings are not tracked)

eg. your password is ABCDEFGH ... type AABBCCDDEEFFFGG ... and then use your mouse to delete AB , CD , EFF and G ... and then continue ...

useful in "shady" internet cafes too ;)

i'm sorry i misread your post. i thought you said you sent your password but you said set. my mistake. if you have contacted Sedo and explained the situation, let them handle it and investigate when and from what IP the offer was made. you are not liable if you did not make the offer.

If I was the owner of iran.com, I probably would have accepted that bid and not risked sending it to auction.

How greedy can you be?

wonder if they will continue the auction?

The Auction is still up as of this post. So the owner of iran.com got someone to hack into your account so he could sell the domain name for the price he wants. Well I don't want to point the finger, but ummmm, I will anway.........

Then again would anyone be silly enough to do that, obviously sedo would cancel the auction anyway (sedo has nearly a full 7 days to investigate the claim) so the seller of iran probably is innocent.....The plot thickens, doom doom, doom doom, doom doom

I wonder who owns iran.com???? anyone know

Folks , Did it ever occur to anyone - That MANY people have Allowed their SessionID to be posted in threads and on sites all over the web ? Remember people gaining access to others accounts this way in the past ? I do ...

In other words , Don't throw around accusations Please - Many times it can come back to bite you ;)

And BTW -

DigiPawn is owned by one of the most respected Domainers around .... Anyone in this industry more than 5 minutes should know this.

Moniker was selling iran.com in one of there recent auctions, so it's really still under contract from my understanding. This would mean the owner (digi pawn) would also owe Moniker 15% of the sale price as well as Sedo's fees.

Oh well, I would contact SEDO asap, and inform them that you did not post the offer.

I bet some stupid iranian hackers did this. Not sure what they thought they could get out of it though.

I've had someone else's bank account details (a gentleman in India) posted to my Sedo account by SEDO themselves in the past so nothing surprises me with that site.

Not only did this reveal some information he probably didn't want a complete stranger to have, but any payment made to me by Sedo would have gone somewhere else. Turned out it was an "administration error".

Sedo desperately need to get their #$)# together.
